So, you’ve bought a VR headset but aren’t sure what to do next? You’ve come to the right place. Although the initial setup of your headset can be a struggle, you’ll soon be cruising porn experiences, unlike anything you’ve experienced before. Whether you have a standalone headset or a PC-connected setup, the effort you’ll expend getting familiar with your VR device will reward you. This guide is for the absolute VR beginner and aims to provide insight into what makes a great virtual reality porn experience and how best to enjoy it.
1. Know the Terms
With all new forms of media come new jargon and terminology to learn, VR porn being no exception. A lot of the terms are intuitive, especially if you’re a long time watcher of non-VR porn. Many of the genres are the same but there are a few extras. Here are a few terms to get you started!
- 180° video: The back half of the viewing area is blank, so all the action happens in front of you.
- 360° video: The viewing area is all around the viewer. Mainly useful for scenes that take more space such as orgies. Best viewed standing up or sitting in a rotating chair.
- POV: Point-of-view. VR video filmed from the perspective of a person involved in the scene. Allowing you to experience the action as if you were there. The vast majority of VR porn is shot from a participant’s POV.
- Voyeur: VR video filmed either from the perspective of someone not involved in the scene or from an objective angle. The viewer is not implied to be participating, only watching.
- Binaural sound: sound heard during a VR scene will be digitally placed in a virtual space, making it seem like the person speaking, for example, is moving from your left to your right or moving closer from far away.
2. Learn How to Watch VR Porn on Your Headset
Learning how to get VRPorn.com working on your device is the first and arguably most important step. Feeling lost or overwhelmed after setting up your first VR device is not uncommon. In this section, you’ll learn how to watch VR porn on the most common types of devices. If you’re looking for more detailed how-to’s for specific devices, you can check out VRPorn.com’s frequently updated guides section.
PC VR headsets can stream VR videos using a compatible browser. Microsoft Edge comes strongly recommended due to Firefox VR’s recent lack of reliability. Once you find a video you like, click play within your browser window. A small VR headset icon will appear next to the player’s full-screen button; clicking it will launch VR mode.
When prompted (at the top left of your browser) for permission to run VR, allow it. If your VR headset is on, it should now display the paused video. Use your VR controllers to press play and start the video. If the website does not support streaming or your internet is too slow, you can download the video and play it using a VR video player like Play’a VR or Skybox VR.
With a stand-alone headset (one that doesn’t require connection to a phone or PC), VR videos can be played directly from any site that supports streaming. Once you press play on a video, the browser will ask you if you want to launch VR. Once allowed, the VR video will begin. Downloaded videos can be viewed later using your VR device’s native video player; downloaded videos should save to the player’s library by default.
If you’re using a smartphone, you can stream VR videos using Chrome browser by once again clicking the player’s VR icon. If the site doesn’t support streaming, you’ll have to download a VR video player from the app store. For Android devices, Gizmo VR is a solid choice; iPhone users should try Mobile VR Station. VR videos do tend to take up a lot of space (usually between 1 and 3 GB) on your phone’s hard drive, which may limit the number of videos available to you at any time.
PSVR owners are unfortunately unable to stream in VR and are forced to download videos onto a USB drive for playback using Rad TV. The videos must be placed on the USB drive in a folder named “Littlstar.” Rad TV requires a paid subscription to use without restrictions, but it’s currently the only viable way to watch VR porn on the PlayStation. If you’re going down this route, make sure everything works before purchasing any subscriptions. Download any free VR trailer and test them using the free version of Rad TV.
3. Explore the Studios
VR pornography hasn’t been around anywhere near as long as 2D porn, really only gathering steam (and fans) over the last ten years. Without as many major studios churning out content as you’d find in traditional 2D porn, VR porn fans rely on a smaller number of creators and studios to satisfy them. Whether you’ve got a fetish you want scratched or your interests are more mainstream, there’s a VR porn studio to suit your needs.
Top studios producing high-quality virtual porn without a clear fetish or kink include VR Bangers, RealJamVR, VirtualRealPorn, BadoinkVR, and 2018 XBiz VR Studio of the Year WANKZVR. These studios produce episodes that prove a good fit for most viewers, starring top-ranked performers and featuring plenty of hot (if fairly vanilla) sex.
A perennial favorite of porn fans, 18-23-year-old women take the spotlight at studios 18VR and VRTeenrs, which focus on the “teen porn” niche, while MILFVR and +33, among others, aim older and feature women in their 30s, 40s, and 50s.
Anyone seeking some fantastic costumed fun would do well with VRCosplayX, a studio that dresses top pornstars as your favorite pop-culture characters and then throws them your way. For those viewers hot for the step-cest or faux-cest family scenarios so popular today, Taboo VR Porn has you covered. VR porn even comes animated courtesy of DarkDreams, RapidBananaCannon, and others.
This is just a taste of the huge range of sexual scenarios, kinks, fetishes, and flavors of VR porn found at VRPorn.com. If your favorite fetish isn’t listed here, don’t fret: VRPorn.com truly has something for everyone.
4. Try Before You Buy
There simply isn’t as much VR porn as there is traditional 2D porn and as a result, it’s more often worth paying a little extra for top quality. There’s no need to blindly commit to a subscription model, though, as it’s easy to take some time and figure out what studio deserves your money. Many studios offer a brief trial subscription for free or a small fee while almost all will provide a few free videos or trailers.
For the tighter pockets among us, periodical discounts can get you full access for a much smaller fee. From Valentine’s Day to Christmas to no-reason-at-all, a decent discount provides the perfect opportunity to try a site or studio you’ve been eyeing for a while.
5. Be Open to New Pornstars
If you’ve watched any porn at all in the last couple of years, you may have become attached to a small handful of pornstars whose videos you always make time to watch. Once you start watching VR porn, however, there’s a strong chance your favorite stars will be absent.
Recruiting traditional porn performers into the VR porn industry isn’t always an easy task. Many are quite comfortable in their 2D careers, are reluctant to learn a new and more demanding style of shooting, or don’t have the skills to pull off convincing virtual sex. It pays to remember that shooting VR is a new skill to most adult performers. VR porn is still growing rapidly with changing tech and tastes. Crews are still experimenting with the best ways to bring sex into VR.
Adult stars have a lot more to consider when performing, technically and erotically. Mistakes and poor angles that are passable in regular porn are more noticeable in VR. Follow your favorite 2D performer into 3D VR and you may be disappointed. With a plethora of new stars heading to VR for its unique opportunities, there’s always a fresh face around the corner waiting to be chosen. It always pays to keep an open mind when browsing new content, porn or otherwise. Keep your eyes peeled and mind receptive and you may even end up finding some new favorite adult stars.
6. Bring Over Your Non-VR Fetishes
When starting out watching VR porn, it’s easy to find yourself overwhelmed by choices. To keep things simple: start with what you know. Whatever you’re into – cosplay, bondage, orgies, MILFs, whatever it is – simply start exploring that niche and find out how it comes alive in VR.
If you’re looking to try something more interactive without going through too much hassle, try a WebXR game. WebXR games are VR porn games that run using nothing but a VR-compatible browser and require no downloads. You can browse VRPorn.com’s WebXR library by checking out the WebXR tag here.
First impressions are important. Try to make your first experience with VR porn is a good one.
7. Get Immersed
Unlike regular two-dimensional porn, virtual reality porn’s specialty is allowing you to really feel like you’re part of the action. Taking a few extra steps to further enhance your experience can go a long way.
Consider space. Depending on the amount of free physical space available to you, sometimes sitting in one position is your only option. However, if you’re lucky enough to have a bit more room, try emulating the perspective of the video. If watching a cowgirl scene, lie down. If the position swaps to missionary, follow its lead and move to missionary. Emulating the actions on screen instead of remaining totally passive can often make a world of difference.
VR cuts your vision of the real world, essentially making you blind to outside reality. Although bumping into objects during VR use is an annoyance, there are ways to take advantage of collisions. Being blind to your surroundings can amplify your sense of touch, letting you emulate more accurately the touching of a virtual object. If you’re fondling a virtual breast, feel free to reach for something soft of appropriate size. If you’re holding the waist of an attractive virtual partner, grab a pillow. Just because technology hasn’t yet conquered virtual touch doesn’t mean it’s not worth trying a few DIY workarounds.
Note: if you’re immersed in a 360° scene, watch out for cables. Been there, tripped over that!
8. Enjoy Yourself
VR porn has truly proven itself the next frontier of sexual discovery. The goal of porn has always been to arouse as deeply as possible. Virtual reality brings the viewer into the scene for the most immersive (and therefore deeply arousing) erotic experience tech can deliver. As digital porn and our physical world inch closer and closer together, VR porn gives you the easiest and most satisfying way to discover virtual sex.
So, get comfortable, grab your headphones, strap on your VR headset and let your dreams come true.

Read this article a bit late to still find it useful, but looking for information on VR porn regardless.. What I keep wondering about is the limitations people aren’t talking about. For instance:
– Why does no guys in the movies talk at all? Would it break immersion? Kinda hard to roleplay when the all the conversations are onesided.
– Pretty much all the scenes are very static. I thought the dude filming had camera goggles, but it seems the camera is fixed as there’s very seldom any movement at all. And if there is movement, it’s easy to get sea-sick.
– The above leads to very equal type of scenes, with few changes in positions. Then sites target in on single-fetishes too, variety drops more. I like the vrporn.com model of being able to see select scenes from a lot of sites at least..
– Also, while in regular 2D porn you’d prefer the angle that gives you the best view, POV style you don’t always have the best view to the shot, but not being POV means losing immersion. Watching non-POV action on VR sets feels a bit wrong, as for some reason you feel more like a spectator if doing so in 3D than 2D 😉
– And there’s some surprising quality issues. In some videos, it’s hopeless to focus your eyes if you look outside the sweetspot in the middle. I thought it was an eye distance thing as I’ve got a high IPD, but it seems to differ from video to video. In some videos, everything looks huge, like the girl is 4m tall.. Though all sizes looks relatively correct to what’s around so dunno why you get the imprmession. And sometimes other way around, the girls looks like small dolls weighing in at 15 kg. And especially if you look at a bit older videos, you’ll find videos where the two images aren’t aligned correctly, creating a headache to try and watch.. At least some of these issues are at least a lot rarer in fresh content..
Also a bit fuzzy on the specs for the headsets as you can download videos in many different formats. With my quest 2, can I download the Gear VR, Oculus Go, or whatever other version I want to, just that the quality will be less good, or is it something more important than bitrate, resolution and compression algorithms that differs, so you will get a bad experience? One thing I notice though, is that quality is a lot more important in VR videos, as low quality breaks immersion.

Knowing the studios is definitely a must in my opinion. Much more important with VR porn than traditional porn.
