When a major competitor unveils a groundbreaking new product, it’s time to reassess the projects you have lined up. Apple announced its first entry into the VR and AR market with Apple Vision Pro, details of which immediately sent its staunchest rivals to alter plans and remain competitive. Priced at $3,500 USD, Apple Vision Pro may not tap into the general consumer market, instead aiming a little higher, and, as a result, there’s still a major portion of the market looking for a more affordable yet still powerful substitute. Samsung had previously announced that it was working on an XR device but now will be delaying its release to focus on a redesign.
Expect Delays
A report from SBS Biz tells that Samsung’s XR headset will be held back two quarters for a “complete review.” According to an unnamed person with internal knowledge of Samsung’s progress in XR, the decision to delay the Galaxy XR headset was made “considering the specifications of Apple Vision Pro.” Samsung’s central XR device, a pair of glasses, has been brewing for a number of years now. The challenge it faces against the Apple hype machine (and the Cupertino giant’s tendency to spearhead global tech revolutions) means Samsung would do well to make the device as accessible and technologically impressive as possible.Samsung’s XR glasses may not arrive in stores in 2023, but with a Qualcomm chip and significant support from Google, it’s likely to be an attractive option for anyone seeking a lighter, more casually wearable device than Apple Vision Pro or even Meta Quest Pro.
Put a Ring On It
Integrating multiple devices into a cohesive XR ecosystem is clearly a major goal of Samsung. Alongside the Galaxy Glass, the South Korean company will release Galaxy Ring, a wearable that will aid XR apps, systems, and tools by gathering environmental and biological data. It’s easy to imagine how Galaxy Ring could integrate into a user’s daily routine and, combined with their smartphone and Galaxy Glasses, create a cohesive multi-faceted XR system.AR and XR may still be in their relative infancy, but even in this very early stage of evolution, they’re already allowing for innovative AR porn concepts to become a reality. The future of AR porn and XR porn is only getting brighter.
