Every year CES showcases the most impressive new innovations in technology, and CES 2025 was no exception. Here’s a look at the most exciting VR/AR/MR/XR and AI products seen at this year’s CES in Las Vegas.
Hot New Headsets
New headsets from some major players in the field were on full display at CES this year, including Shiftall’s MeganeX Superlight 8K and the Pimax Crystal Super.
When it comes to visuals, Shiftall’s device boasts pancake lenses, a 3552×3840 resolution per-eye, HDR, and two 1.35 inch Micro OLED displays. Electronically adjustable IPD, built-in microphones, USB-C connectivity, and a sub-185g weight also contribute to its appeal. Notably small and lightweight – Meta Quest 3S weighs almost three times as much – Shiftall MeganeX Superlight aims for comfort to aid more extended periods in XR. The headset can also be quickly flipped away from the user’s eyes to accommodate brief breaks in use without needing to be fully removed. A compatible PC and Steam VR setup is required for the use of MeganeX Superlight.
As we reported in early 2024, Pimax is adding another headset to its Crystal line. Aiming for visual excellence, Pimax Crystal Super offers a 120-135° horizontal FoV, 50-57 PPD QLED for a per-eye resolution of 3840×3840, a 90-100 Hz refresh rate, and an interchangeable optical system that allows users to heavily customize their unit and their experience.
Pimax also showed off its 60G Airlink which allows users to wirelessly stream content from PC. 60G Airlink remains a work in progress but already shows promise.
A Kickstarter-backed headset called Play For Dream was available to demo at CES this year and aside from some concerns about audio fidelity, the headset was warmly received by many who tried it. An Android-based spatial computing headset featuring a Snapdragon XR2 chip, 8K display, hand-eye-voice interaction, and MR capabilities, Play For Dream is pitched as a more affordable equivalent to Apple Vision Pro.
AR Glasses Galore
Rokid gave CES attendees an opportunity to try its forthcoming Max 2 AR glasses, a modest evolution from Rokid Max that is now available to preorder. Rokid Max 2 serves up a ~50° FoV, 1080p/1200p per-eye resolution, 600 nits of brightness with 6 levels of control, a 90 Hz refresh rate, myopia adjustment, and, most notably, a virtual screen size of 360”. Aimed largely at gamers who seek a massive display on which to play, Rokid Max 2 could also be used for more lascivious purposes.
Xreal’s One and One Pro AR glasses earned the company a place as 2025 Honoree in XR Technologies & Accessories, with CES noting the custom-designed chip powering the devices as particularly impressive.
Xreal and Rokid’s contributions to AR glasses development are pushing the tech-forward and realizing some longstanding aspirations for AR.
Robots for Intimacy
Robots were everywhere at CES 2025, most of them powered by one form of AI or another. Of particular note for VR porn fans viewers will be Aria from Realbotix.
Aria uses AI to answer questions and make conversation while appearing as a conventionally “pretty” blonde “female” humanoid. Realbotix designed Aria “specifically for companionship and intimacy” by focusing on “social intelligence, customizability, and realistic human features.” The extent of Aria’s capabilities in this context is not yet known, but “she” carried verbal conversations with attendees and showed only a small amount of lag and plenty of fluidity.
Aria’s hair and face can be changed, magnetically attaching to her head. More than a dozen motors drive facial expression, eye movement, and mouth movement to match Aria’s vocalizations. Realbotix is also working on an RFID tagging system that would allow Aria to recognize which face she is wearing and adjust her voice and personality to match.
The Path Ahead
The path from an “intimacy bot” like Aria to highly developed robotic erotic companions currently sits on an unclear timeline but Aria shows that it is definitely approaching sooner than many ever thought.
From headsets to glasses to a bot that can talk dirty and wink slyly at you from across the room, CES 2025 was full of promise that should excite all VR porn fans and those with an eye on the future of sexual entertainment.
