Polygon Amorous – Going Beyond Simulation with Citor3’s Amoreon

Citor3 was most well known for the game Femdomination before setting their ambitions on creating Amoreon. You can see that artistic DNA throughout their new project. There is plenty of skin-tight leathers and latex in the clothing choices.

The dominatrix and submissive personality types are the most solid in writing and performance. Amoreon has a world of difference to a game like Femdomination however. It has a world of difference in my opinion to any adult VR game you can purchase at the time of me blurting out these bold words.

Before we get into the “game” part of the game let’s start first with what else you get in the package. Citor3 posted a 40 minute Amoreon walk through on Reddit with an index of time markers for the various parts of the game.

In today’s adult gaming world you can’t release a serious sex game that doesn’t include a sandbox and a poser. The Amoreon trailer and walkthrough will show you the cool bits of how characters are manipulated and sex moves are triggered better than I can in a brief post. I spent almost no time in those modes. I don’t, in general, do much with posing games. I can say honestly that it has a few features I personally have never seen before. I will also say that the sex sandbox has an actual sand bucket. Cute touch. The Citor3 team loves being literal.

Do You Like Dolls? Wanna Play Dress-Up?

Creating your playmate for the sandbox is done in a dressing room with a big mirror you can see yourself in. Your body is goofy and awkward like in every game that gives you a full body. You can make some basic choices of how you look as well.

In the middle of the room is a movable floating controls table that creates actual dolls. Each doll has an item of clothing, accessory, hairstyle, etc that you want the build-a-slut to take on. You pick up and throw the dolls at your playmate as she chats with various bits of dialogue. You remove an item by pitching that item’s doll into a trash bin. Your living mannequin even has a few surprising comments. Be sure to listen out for them.

I’ve spent a long bit of time tossing dolls to build the perfect bimbo. For an extra special thrill, you can click off the checkbox that prevents extreme proportions that clip clothing and items. Doing that and clicking the random button can reveal some impressive results. If you are a fan of the lustfully plump then that’s the trick you want. You can craft full figure gals for tons of fun.

This is another area with features, controls and mechanics that are too deep for me to do justice. Playing with the dolls is an immensely entertaining waste of time.

Spoil Me, Please Me, Make Me Cum … or Else

We aren’t used to playing an adult game you can screw up and have a lose condition with reasonable consequence. I’m used to sucking at sex and not giving my partner the pleasure she wants in real life. While playing Amoreon I had the new experience of getting kicked out of a woman’s hotel room in VR for being a lousy lover. Worse is that screw up cost me money. I was in debt already and it just got worse. The dominatrix is without surprise the person your character will least enjoy not pleasing. Thankfully that part isn’t graphically shown.

It is a fully fledged game with some consequence of losing as well as the rewards of winning.

Welcome to Your New Job Mike

The settings room has a cage dancer. I seem to be changing my settings pretty often for some reason.

Before you get to work (or play in sandbox) you should get yourself all squared away in the settings room. There is a mirror where you can see yourself as you adjust your scale and height as well as other control menus. In this room is also where you will find mini-tutorial videos. Once you are all squared away it’s time to play.

Mike is a fresh-faced gigolo. He’s a wannabe Lothario currently living in a closet-sized room with a busted TV and incessantly loud neighbors. Lucky for Mike he’s got a friend who trained him up to be a prime gigolo with a tutorial fuck session and some starting cash.  From humble beginnings, you, as Mike, start your journey to grow both your wallet and quality of life. You have no intentions of remaining in that hovel. Better things await if you keep the ladies fully satisfied and begging for more.

What makes this otherwise perfect job difficult is solving the riddle to making a woman steamy and desiring sex. Then after that comes the delicate balance of getting her off before you get off.  With the ideal outcome of having both of your love juice volcanoes erupting simultaneously. There are secrets to it of course. Some are obvious like popping store bought pecker pills to prolong the pleasuring. Some are hidden like her phone number. There are some secrets that are left for you to discover without hints at all of what they are and what they do.

You soon gain access to a specialty shop. It sells items not available to the general public. Everything a true professional could need to get the job done. From candles and candies to pecker pills and vibrators the Citor3 shop has it. It might not be cheap but they’ve got it.

This is an in-game image of the Citor3 Outlet store. You buy things by picking them up and putting them on the counter. This is my favorite location to explore by far. It’s simply perfect. The clerk is pretty cute too but unfortunately not for purchase or rent.

This is also where you buy clothes and accessories that clients and sandbox fuck-dolls will wear. Once you buy a clothing or fashion accessory you will start seeing your clients wearing those items. The few times my bank account wasn’t negative I splurged it first on all the hairstyles.

You physically pull items off the rack and shelves and put them on the counter to pay for them. There is even an ATM in the back for making “deposits”.  Did I mention they love being literal?

Fancy Word Alert

Because of our history of fuck sims by Illusion and others, you may be picturing different sex HUDs and sliders for the game. None (almost) of that exists in Amoreon. You are playing in first person and all of the functional game controls are diegetic. You are not only grabbing and buying clothes and toys like described above. When you are in character everything you need to see and touch to play the game is part of the game world. That is in stark contrast to the control displays we’ve gotten used to in sexual simulations.

The buttons and sliders for building dolls are via an in-world control station for example. The build-a-slut knows she’s getting dolls tossed at her. It’s her own fault if you thwack her in the head. She’s actually asking for it.

There is always an exception. The menu to change sex positions during the gigolo gameplay pops up from your watch. Your client knows you are changing positions but that menu being truly in-world is too far a stretch.

Other necessary game control items are in your home. It’s your hub between client calls. From there you can go upstairs to the dressing room and sandbox. There are doors to the shop or heading to work. Phones, suitcase and more are found in the room that is necessary for the work. And yes, phones, suitcases and even the remote control to change the radio stations have game purpose.

There are mechanics aplenty to deal with. There is the intended challenge of needing to juggle a limited amount of suitcase space from toys and supplies for example. And there is an unintended game of “What the fuck did she just say?” The sexy voice actresses have accents that can sometimes be tricky to catch.

Everything is spoken and listening is important. The voice acting brings the world to life. There is more than typical sparse audio with porn movie coitus grunts and throw away phrases like “right there, just like that”. If she says something like “fuck me harder” then she means it. Hit the throttle and go full diesel on that ass.

VR gamers are always going to be wearing headphones or earphones. So it’s especially important that VR games take advantage of that by putting extra effort into soundscapes and music.There is room for tuning but you can tell it’s not ignored and someone is focused on the game audio.

Every room has a remote and some of the customers appreciate some tunes. There are multiple radio stations with plenty of decent professionally made music in different styles across those stations. Of course my favorite music is whatever that cage dancer wants to hear and move to.

Some Bitches Got Glitches

The goals and ambitions of the game fill my holes that were ready and waiting for something like this. I would not describe this project as anything close to perfect, however. There is plenty to be critiqued. The technical bits still have plenty of rough edges needing to be smoothed.

The current response in their Reddit release post contains feedback on issues in many categories. Physics and UI being a common set of “challenges” still needing improvement. The feedback also includes some overall negative opinion of Citor3. Specifically with Femdomination support and updating after release.

I find plenty more issues. Dialogue might miscue and not fit the context for example. I think subtitles or a running historical transcript of some form would help a lot to catch up on those missed or otherwise tough to understand dialogue lines.

All of the store posters are amazing. Hard to pick a favorite but I think it’s this one.

Graphically a titty might get sticky but not in a good way. The first person laser finger telekinetic beam grab might forever be my nemesis.

According to the Citor3 team fix patches and free content, additions are already in the works. A physics hotfix for example should be in place just before or after you read this. If they keep iterating and stay true to the promise of long term support and updates any overall negative opinion of them should start to fade.

Post Coitus

Dividing up Amoreon into its component parts and putting them side by side with projects that specialize in just that feature isn’t a fair critique. A jack of all trades being a master of none is true in this case. What is key for me is that the game has “good bones” and if Citor3 continues refining it like they say the game should mature into something truly unmatched currently.

This game gives a taste of what we can expect as ambitions and budgets grow to meet our ever-growing expectations. From this game, I have nudged upwards my personal bar of what a “full sized” naughty VR game project is capable of beyond the sucky-fucky simulation.

That dream admittedly blinds my eyes to many negative details. The vote of my loins regarding the character art style, graphical design directions, and voice actress accents do also stuff the ballot box with yes votes.

What I Can Best Say in Conclusion

I’m having fun being an imperfect lover in the imperfect world of an imperfect game.

Infinite looks across multiple personalities. Don’t ask me to choose. I like them all.

Believe it or not, there is, even more, I haven’t mentioned.

It is $30 in one month of Patreon money at the time of this post. With the other Patreon benefits included. It costs more via CCbill with no benefits.

There are no microtransactions.

Honestly a surprise to me. Plenty of VR porn projects include some some painful DP, double pay. Having an in game store would have made it easy for them to toss in some money grab. But they didn’t and have promised they won’t ever do it.

If this was just a sex sandbox this would be a hard sell for me. This is a full game however that also happens to have a sandbox mode.
