VR is here, and it’s causing a huge revival in PC gaming. But let’s not forget Apple. The Oculus Rift officially supports OSX, and many of the new demos work perfectly on Macs.
Setting up the Rift on a PC is generally very easy: just plug it in and you’re ready to go. It’s easy on a Mac also, but you might have to adjust a couple settings, I know that I did.
When I first plugged the Rift in to my Mac, it gave the main screen strange behavior and was unusable.
So this is what you do:
- Open System Preferences > Displays
- Plug in your Rift
- Click Gather Windows
- On the Rift display options > Arrangements, make sure Mirror Displays is checked
- You may have to adjust the resolution to the native Rift resolution
And that’s it! Now, you can plug in your Rift and it works seamlessly. You can enjoy virtual reality without venturing over to Windows.
