HTC Vive $100 off on Black Friday
Tis the season for VR, so to celebrate HTC Vive is dropping the price of the HTC Vive by $100 on Black Friday and Cyber Monday at all online and retail stores. It should be noted that HTC is also planning to reduce the price of certain titles during Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Minimum Windows 10 VR Headset Specs Released by Microsoft

A month ago we reported on Microsoft’s plan to support virtual reality head mounted displays that will start at $299. Microsoft explained they are aiming to support virtual reality experiences as part of their Creators Update next year. Moreover, Microsoft plans to create a similar virtual environment to that of the Windows HoloLens for their Windows Holographic endevour. This will act as the headsets software that powers VR experiences and similar to the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive software.
Now that all sounds fine and dandy, especially the $299 price tag, however there is one burning question that virtual reality enthusiasts were wondering about the Microsoft VR headset, and that is – what kind of PC specs will be required to run Microsoft VR experiences?
Well there is some good news, Microsoft has included a new application to test a users PC specs to see if it will have enough juice to be compatible and power their VR experiences. The new application is inlcuded in the newest test builds of Windows 10 and is called “Windows Holographic First Run.”
The news gets even better, the minimum specs are significantly lower than that of the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
The average minimum spec are listed below:
- 4GB of RAM
- USB 3.0 port
- A graphics card with DirectX 12 support
- 4 CPU cores, including dual-core processors with hyperthreading
These low specs are terrific for the virtual reality industry in general. This means that Microsoft VR headsets could be compatible with a huge number of existing PC’s and laptops, and will allow almost anyone to enter the virtual reality market without a monster of a PC. That being said, this is all just speculation, because there is little information on what the Microsoft VR headset will be fully capable of doing at launch. More information is expected to be released during an event in December.
New AR Software Will Allow People to Choose New Breasts in Real Time
Illusio, a company with a focus in augmented reality (AR) solutions, has developed a software that helps plastic surgeons ease the minds of their patients during the decision making process about changes and improvements to their bodies. Most notably, this software allows patients to choose and try on new breasts of all shapes and sizes, and is personalized and accurate to fit a patients body. According to Illusio, the whole process takes roughly 20 minutes to complete, plus the initial learning curve for the doctor to use the software.
The use of augmented reality should not be overlooked by virtual reality enthusiasts. It is my personal opinion that virtual reality experiences will be improved greatly by augmented reality.

Well, Oculus and Vive are in a totally different category of vr in my opinion. If you have the PC to run the Oculus or Vive skip out on psvr. If it comes down to the Oculus or Vive, go oculus if you don’t mind waiting for the touch controllers.
undecided if I’ll get Oculus, Vive or PSVR. suggestions?
