Oculus Rift Gets Native Xbox one Game Streaming Dec. 12
Xbox provided additional infomation about their ongoing partnership with Oculus, and announced that Rift owners will be able to stream their Xbox One library to Rift with the new Xbox One Streaming to Oculus Rift app. They noted that Gears of War 4,” “Forza Horizon 3” and “Halo 5: Guardians,” along with sports games, indie games, and Backward Compatible Xbox 360 games will be compatible with the Xbox One Streaming to Oculus Rift app and will be available for free in the Oculus Store on Dec. 12.
According to a post by Xbox, “The new Xbox One Streaming to Oculus Rift app connects to your Xbox One via your home network. Once connected, your console’s video output is streamed to your Rift headset and projected onto a massive screen in your choice of one of three immersive VR environments: ‘Citadel,’ ‘Retreat’ and ‘Dome.'”
They noted the Xbox Wireless Adapter and new PCs with native Xbox Wireless support, you can play games on Rift using your controller wirelessly right out of the box.
This was certainly some interesting new, especially as Microsoft gears up to enter the virtual reality/augmented reality industry next year. None the less, we will make sure to keep you up to date on the topic when it releases on December 12.
Vrideo Shutdown
Vrideo, an immersive video destinations app available for all the major VR headsets, announced they would be shutting down on Monday. Since launching their platform in beta in March 2015, Vrideo had over 700,000 installs of their VR apps, was one of only two immersive video destinations with apps available for all the major VR headsets, was the highest rated immersive video destination on the Gear VR and Oculus Rift, and was the most popular immersive video destination on PlayStation VR. Those are just a few of their accomplishments.
Alex Rosenfeld, Vrideo, left supporters with the following, “We regret any inconvenience our shutdown causes. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us at support@vrideo.com if we can be helpful, for example, retrieving any videos you don’t have local copies of.
We’d also like to thank all the users who have downloaded our apps and viewed content on our platform. Your enthusiasm has kept us motivated through many late nights and long weekends. Finally, we’d like to thank the investors and advisors who have supported us as we ventured out into a very nascent and unproven industry.”
It is never easy to see a pioneer of the metaverse shutdown. As some one who has used Vrideo and enjoyed the experience, I have to say I am sad to see them go.

It’s a shame they shut down so soon after VR launched
VRJunkie says
Yeah, I used this a lot on my PSVR. Hopefully Sony updates their media player since it is essentially useless right now for VR
