Apple Clips, the iOS video app geared towards light, fun, animated messaging, recently received an update that should catch the attention of any Apple user keen to advance into augmented reality.
Instant AR Heats Up
iPhone 12 Pro and iPad Pro’s LiDAR sensor to map an area and intelligently fill it with AR elements, measuring light distance and observed pixel depth information to create a space in which active AR elements can be placed, moved, and left to roam according to their design. Clips 3.1 adds seven AR Spaces for users to choose from – Confetti, Dance Floor, Disco, Hearts, Prism, Sparkles, Stardust, and Hearts – each of which aims to turn your average living space into a busy animated environment. Many of the AR Spaces were clearly conceived with personal messaging in mind – Hearts is perfect for dating couples and Valentine’s Day – while others appear to be heavily influenced by the rise of TikTok. Dance Floor, Disco, Prism, and Stardust would be perfect for that other platform’s viral dance challenges.
Sharing Space with AR Perfection
“Using AR segmentation and occlusion, Clips recognizes people in the video and projects the AR Spaces effects in front of and behind them, making it feel as if the effects are all around the space and subjects” – Apple.com
Place the above statement in the context of porn, and it’s sure to set many adult users’ minds racing. Adult entertainment studios (or even individual, independent operators) could feasibly start providing fans and customers with AR scenes much like Apple’s, only far more sexual in nature. A virtual stripclub environment could spice up a girlfriend’s private video message to her distant BF, sure, but it could also give pornstars a great creative platform for direct interaction with fans. Choose your partner, choose your setting and scenery, and be greeted by a dedicated performer who, though they may be on the other side of the world, appears to be doing their darnedest to turn you on in your very own home, now an AR strip club.
Make Magic. Share Joy. Get Off.
Once again, apply that slogan to porn, and it’s no trouble to imagine just what kind of highly suggestive or overtly explicit AR-outfitted content adults may end up sharing thanks to Apple’s latest A/V innovation. Apple: inadvertently fertilizing the meeting grounds of technology and adult entertainment for decades.
