SemsoMotoric Instruments has gotten together with everybody’s favorite software/virtual reality company (Valve) to create an eye tracking standard that potentially will change the future of virtual reality gaming, videos, and adult entertainment. They are working to create a standard for all virtual reality platforms and headsets. That said, these two companies are beginning with modifying HTC’s Vive headset for obvious reasons. Valve and SMI will be modifying the Vive by adding groundbreaking eye-tracking technology. If standardized for use in any headset, we will be in for some great virtual reality adult experiences!
Why are Standards Important?
Since virtual reality technologies and platforms are just getting their start, we are seeing companies banding together to create standards. These standards will potentially define virtual reality software and hardware in the years to come. In the early days of the web, similar collaborations existed between companies pushing HTML, Flash, Java and other software that is now standard web technology.
We take this for granted now, but these early “standards” collaborators helped define the web. Perhaps if more companies had stayed behind Adobe’s Flash, HTML five would not be the gold web standard it is now. Instead, Flash would be king, and even Apple would have been forced to make it run on their iPads. So now that we know why virtual reality standards may be important, what standards are we talking about here?
Eye Tracking and Facial Tracking
In previous articles, I mentioned why eye-tracking could be groundbreaking. In brief, I discussed how eye tracking could be used to create foveated software rendering solutions that allow most of the virtual reality display to appear lower resolution thus saving valuable processing resources. Using this technique, resolutions can be downgraded while specific areas that users are looking at can be kept sharp and high resolution. This is possible with inbuilt eye trackers that determine what portion of the screen is being focused on.
Foveated Depth

Foveated rendering can also increase the realism of depth of field effects that mirror how human vision focuses and refocuses on perceived objects. For example, foveated rendering and eye-tracking may be used to determine if a user a user is looking at a distant object. If a user focuses on distant objects that are foveated, the foreground would appear lower resolution with less focus, while the background would appear the opposite.
Face Tracking
Placing cameras inside headsets for eye tracking also has other benefits. Google demonstrated last week that eye tracking technology could have facial benefits that would be a boon to virtual reality live sex. Using eye trackers inside an HTC Vive and a scanned model of persons face, the awesome tech-lords at Google created a demo where a VR headset appeared to be transparent, thus allowing the wearer’s face to be seen.
This has potentially wider effects than most would assume. As of now, in virtual reality, headsets obscure each user’s face. As a result, this leaves multiplayer and social gaming deprived of one of the key forms of human communication. That form of communication would be facial expression.
As can be seen above, this technology would potentially make it so you could see a virtual reality date’s expressions. It would be easy to identify if he or she finds you amusing, attractive, or disgusting. If eye tracking and facial tracking became a standard feature, we would surely start seeing more exciting live adult virtual reality videos and simulations. I know I can’t wait to see my first VR O-face which will probably be like the guy pictured below.

Google’s transparent VR concept to capture the wearer’s reactions sound quite a bit interesting

I think all this stuff will become standardized eventually. This is like the early days of the internet for VR. The sooner the better!

Awesome! Hope we won’t need to wear sex suits like that of the last image to get the best out of these features
