There is a great news for all the PlayStation VR owners and fans as Sony is all set to roll-out the new PS4 System Software 4.50 update which will bring improved tracking along with 3D Blu-ray playback to the PSVR headsets.
Improved Tracking
This new PS4 System Software 4.50 update is said to improve the tracking features for objects tracked through the Playstation Camera including the Aim Controllers that is awaiting its launch in May 2017.
Though at the moment, the developers have refused to share more specifics, they have ensured that there would be notable enough changes for tracking that are derived from working with the Aim Controller. Moreover, the important thing is that these updates would be general across all the PSVR games rather than for individual games.
Also, the Aim Controller will get a direct support in the PSVR SDK. This will make it easy for developers to target the peripheral without the need of any additional plugins and software.
3D Blu-ray Playback
The upcoming PS4 System Software 4.50 update will bring 3d playback on some supported Blu-rays for the PSVR headsets. Currently, the PSVR screens can show movies streamed from Blu-ray discs, but if the content is in 3D, you will see it in flat screen 2D format. The upcoming update will help to add depth to screen to unleash the high-quality Blu-ray movie viewing experience with 3D immersive content.
Mantis VR Integrated Audio Headphones
One of the major things that are missing with the PSVR headsets is the presence of integrated audio. Rift headset comes with built-in headphones and Vive has just announced the Deluxe Audio Strap for immersive and integrated sound experience.
For the PSVR headsets, Bionik has recently announced a new pair of headphones named as Mantis VR, which will fit the PSVR headsets just like Vive’s and Rift’s integrated audio solutions do. The Mantis VR headphones come with spring-loaded clips to be easily attached to your device.
The headphones will fit firmly between the rubber paddings that rest on your forehead and the strap to the back. However, they are still attached through the audio port that exists on the wire connecting your PSVR and console.
Mantis VR will go on sale for a price of $49.99 this spring season.
