Finding quality VR porn can be a lot like walking around while using google on your cell phone. Searching, browsing, trying to navigate and WHAM! You walk right into it and then you end up dropping your phone in a nice pile of poop. The SteamVR update broke my Vive’s ability to track, and my motivation for spending 2 hours (long story) to fix it was the fact that I found this little gem.

Bringing a real world strip club to the virtual world…

VRClubz was founded by some top talent from the mainstream tech world. And their plan is to bring strip clubs into VR.

They are starting with Gold Club SF, a real strip club in San Francisco. It’s an actual physical location and you can google it. The interior is modeled off of what the interior of Gold Club SF is actually like! (More on that in a minute)

Like in a strip club, there are dancers. And not just random chicks. Actual name-brand porn stars! Christy Mack, Alexis Monroe, Kendra Lust, to name a couple. You can run up and down the street and look around. The level design here is solid, and I didn’t fall off the world into oblivion like on some other early adult VR games I tried, though it is still officially in beta.

The Software and Setup

Now, keep in mind, it’s still a beta and there are a couple of bugs that will probably be quashed shortly. This VR porn game was designed for the Oculus Rift, but it worked just fine on my Vive… Well, except for a control issue. Basically, don’t teleport anywhere or use the “grab” buttons… If you do, the camera height gets all wonky and you’ll feel like a midget. Just restart the game and don’t hit the buttons again. 😛

These are the current controls, and from what I understand, will probably be changing in the future to make them feel more natural for Vive wands and fix the camera height issue. Feedback + Responsive/Good developer = win!

But It’s a Real Strip Club in VR!

And as with any VR program, the first thing one must do is try and punch the bouncer or guard in the nuts… Needless to say, the focus of this game was not on the bouncer’s response. Or interaction with his nuts. Sadly, he just stood there and took the abuse instead of crumpling like a rag doll…

Inside The Club!

This is where I met my arch-nemesis for the day: the computer terminal. I repeatedly failed at logging in, it was some tragicomedy. It’s also the place where, thanks to SteamVR’s update, my Vive crapped out and began having tracking issues and controller/headset problems… But yeah, log in here and it keeps track of your progress, unlocked stuff, and club cash. Grrr @ SteamVR!

The main dance floor, stage, table, and booth area are all really well detailed right down to the drink menus, reservation cards, candles, and lighting.

I couldn’t get onto the upper tier to capture the image from the same angle, however, the layout is pretty spot-on. Hopefully, in a future version, they’ll add the lighting too!

All in all, the level designers copied the location with a pretty high level of accuracy and detail. Minus the lights and strobe effects, and a fake crowd, which may end up being added later, as well as ambient music (or perhaps an option for your own MP3 playlist?) this pretty much gives the vibe that you’re in early and you’ve got the entire club to enjoy all to yourself. And why not have a look around?

One other cool thing? The game designers want to add in additional strip clubs from around the world! I’m voting for the White Lion in Bangkok. (Hangover 2 was hilarious.)

Looking Around the Club.

A mysterious door? To where does it lead I wonder? Well, apparently it leads to a bathroom!

And a spacious one at that. Given the size of the club, and its occupancy rating, I suspect this may not be entirely accurate due to sanitation codes in the city and whatnot… Something tells me that they probably have toilet paper in the actual club.

The “hard water” marks may be entirely accurate, though… But hey, it just goes to show you the level of detail that these guys have put into the object and model design.

BRING ON THE BABES!

So, after looking around, we find a seat, sit down, and enjoy the show!

First up on the stage was Kristy Mack. I don’t know the other chick’s name, but she definitely had a nice set of tits. Had to reach up and try to give them a bit of a squeeze. Looking at the stage and background, it’s also pretty obvious that this was taken and modeled straight out of the actual club. One thing that was really nice about this was that the girls, being pros, didn’t make any noob mistakes. They never leaned so far forward or got so close to the camera that my eyes tried to cross.

The program’s free, the basic dances are free, but if you want the clothes to start coming off and piling up, you’re going to have to tip the dancers. Just like a real strip club. And just like a real strip club, you can make it rain if you feel like it!

Make it rain

There were more floating bills, I was just a little slow catching the picture. Honestly, I was paying a bit more attention to how the virtual dancer was interacting with the VR pole. Which brings up another point. The interaction between the dancers and the VR environment is really accurate. Maybe the stuff was done on location? Who knows?

Sadly, there was no way to troll the dancers and fish a dollar across the stage and make them come crawling… But that’s kind of a dick move anyway.

Background TVs

So, we can see some TVs in the club in the background, and there’s a bar there too. So what do those do? Sadly, nothing yet. Hopefully, however, a future release will allow you to either call up specific girls at the bar or select/order them or specific dances on the TV. As it is, you kinda have to wait for the girl to finish her dance and explode before the next one arrives…

The strippers explode into dazzling lights

Yes, the girls explode into a shower of light and sparks at the end of their dance and a new one shows up Star Trek style. It’s a much better transition effect than a simple fade out and it looks pretty snazzy in VR.

Fun Bugs and New Technology

Putting real people into a virtual reality environment as an additional 3d actor rather than just a flat tile or 2d stamp like in Duke Nukem requires a bit of an involved technique. It used to be with greenscreen tech you only had to worry about a single point of reference and the lines from one point of view.

In 3D, green screening a model into a VR environment requires an entirely different method of calculating what to crop and how to get the angles right and compensate for distortion based on the differences in the images between cameras. And so, we end up with CGI stuff like this.

I point this out as a bug because it’s merely a calibration issue. You can see through her pants to the bills on the floor, and through her hair to the wall behind her in splotches. It’s basically just a wardrobe or backdrop color issue where the backdrop color is too close to what she’s wearing. Easy fix? Get her naked. 😀

Also, with regards to the 3D green screening issues, if you look at her waist, on the left, just above her shorts, you can see what looks like a granny flab roll. This is an optical illusion caused by using the 3d cameras on a greenscreen.

Not all of the models suffer from this effect, but some do more than others. I couldn’t easily figure out what causes one model to be more susceptible to it than another, but I’m thinking it may have to do with focal distance more than color. I’d love to shoot some VR porn sex rather than just write about it, but alas… Who am I kidding, I’d be happy with a good 3d 180 camera setup to play with and figure out. Pornstar’s optional but welcome… I digress…

This may just be the perfect thing for you!

Even if it’s not yet perfect (again, this is still a Beta Version), this is still an excellent step forward in virtual reality porn and 3d video technology. Further, it’s also being developed by an experienced team with people that have worked for years at a name-brand studio that has proven time and time again that they can deliver. Add to that the name-brand porn stars, and you end up with a solid product that you can expect to get better with time.
