Augmented reality is coming to the Apple Watch. MicroOLED’s ActiveLook has revealed an augmented reality platform called Light AR which will allow Apple Watch users to transmit biometric data to an AR heads-up display visible on the lenses of smart sunglasses.
Light AR will allow users to show up to three “dashboards” via their glasses which will display such biometrics as running pace, heart rate, running power, stride length, ground contact time, and vertical oscillation. Clearly aimed at runners – at least at this point – ActiveLook eyewear offers the latest evidence that Apple has serious ambitions for AR.ActiveLook 2.0 featuring Light AR is compatible with a range of sports eyewear and is now available for free in the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store.
Geared towards runners requiring biometric data in order to achieve peak performance, ActiveLook eyewear could soon expand into other areas of use. Apple, for its part, is known to be developing the Apple Car, a smart autonomous vehicle that reportedly relies on AR displays to convey information to passengers. Although the Apple Car is still two or three years away (possibly further), this latest AR development proves Apple is continually looking for ways to bring AR to its devices.
Smarter Sex
While this news isn’t especially significant for VR and AR porn, it does bode well for the integration of sexual content, data, and information that could be used during sexual activity. Want to know just how many strokes you’re achieving per minute? Eager to find out how close your body temperature and your partner’s come to each other during an encounter? How about suggested sexual positions based on your respective physical attributes, abilities, and states? All of these could easily be made possible by such technology. Sure, it requires wearing glasses during sexy times, but with AR contact lenses by adventurous developers headed our way, it could become discreet and unobtrusive in just a few years.
