Advancing AI at CES 2021

Reah Keem, virtual influencer, brand spokesperson, and musical recording artist, took the lead in presenting LG’s latest endeavors. Or, more accurately, her programmers did. Bound to an AI, Reah lead virtual CES attendees through LG’s myriad showcase products and concepts, all the while sounding much like a real 22-year-old aspiring DJ and wearing a hoodie emblazoned with “Stay Punk Forever.” Much like the AI chatbot Replika, the degree to which Reah sounds and acts like a real person is crucial to her success. Taking Reah Keem to the next level means giving her a physical form – and then we’ll be getting into some truly exciting (and arousing) territory.

Samsung’s Bot Handy, a sort of robot butler, features expressive eyes, three-point-pivoting arms, rolling “feet,” and an extendable claw arm, gained lots of attention for its highlighted task: pouring a glass of wine. Clearly aiming its latest robot helper at those in a socioeconomic bracket that allows for casual (and robot-aided) consumption of a Bordeaux or Beaujolais, Bot Handy looks to be the higher-end of Samsung’s home help offerings. JetBot 90 AI is a simpler but no less valuable assistant, an intelligent vacuum that uses lidar and onboard cameras for navigation, object identification, and performing various cleaning tasks. Although this still seems like the kind of tech found in the home of the ultra-elite, Samsung is laying a path towards full home automation aided by a team of AI-equipped humanoid helpers.

Home is Where the Hard-On Is

Jumping from home help to sexual health powered by AI may seem like a stretch at this stage, but with humans generally lowering their physical labor demands outside and inside the home, and with the current pandemic placing everyone under more health-related stress than usual, the two will inevitably crossover. Samsung’s home helper bots could easily be adapted to host a visual representation of someone like Reah Keem, giving it more human-like features and communication styles. It’s only a short step to an amalgamation of real dolls, robot home helpers, and AI chatbots that provide a humanoid adult companion with ample romantic and sexual potential. While this degree of subservience is likely to be abused by some owners who may feel they deserve a combination maid/mother/whore, the potential for improving the home skills of users is much stronger.
