If any big tech company has made its name on producing elegant, efficient, and most of all popular devices seen by many as genuine game-changers, that company is Apple Inc. First, with the Macintosh then the iMac, to the iPod, iPad, and iPhone, Apple has continually altered the trajectory of tech and given untold millions a glimpse of their future. So central is Apple to tech culture; many believe VR and AR will struggle to reach mainstream adoption without the company’s help.
After the many teases and leaked tidbits over the years that have suggested (or directly stated) that Apple’s first serious attempt at AR or VR tech is forthcoming, a recent revelation by Jon Prosser of Front Page Tech has pundits and consumers (and even VR and AR porn fans) getting giddier than ever about Apple’s expected breakthrough device.
Apple on Adult AR: Okay or No Way?
Although Apple has long held a stance that adult content has no official place on its products or services, that hasn’t stopped iPhones and iPads everywhere being used for prurient purposes. Grabbing a Google Cardboard or equivalent budget VR viewer for their iPhone is how many people first experience VR and, by extension, virtual porn.
Whenever Apple’s AR venture, tentatively called Apple Glass, does indeed reach consumers, you can be sure the AR hype machine will be in full swing. Much like nobody wanted to be the last person they knew to carry their digitized music collection everywhere they went, so too will the teeming masses be utilizing AR in fear of missing out. Of course, the fact that Apple routinely does deliver game-changing devices – or at least it has historically – bolsters confidence in its forthcoming Glass.
Glass in Detail
Touted at a retail price of $499 USD (plus the cost of any prescription lenses you may require), Apple Glass is expected to offload its processing to a paired iPhone. It is planned as one of Apple’s legendary “One More Thing” announcements sometime between Q4 2020 and Q1 2021.

Prosser, who is coming under fire from Apple HQ because of his consistent development leaks, claims to have seen an Apple Glass prototype that he describes as made of plastic resembles regular spectacles and lacks the fanciful design many expected, includes a LiDAR sensor at the right temple position, a wireless charging stand, and dual-lens displays. Gestural control is also expected and is great news for those aiming to use such a device for pleasure, as well as work.
Apple’s resistance to allowing more adult experiences on its devices may weaken over time – or not. Even if it refuses to budge on such a puritanical position, the rest of the AR industry will undoubtedly be more open and, spurred on by Apple Glass’s impending arrival. Their devices will quickly rise to the occasion and have you indulging your most adults-only AR desires, Glass or no Glass.

Love how the devices are becoming slimmer and more comfortable to wear.
