Apple has reportedly shown its forthcoming VR/AR (or Mixed Reality) device to its board of directors, furthering rumors that the device will be released to the public this year. The latest major product line from the hardware giant since its Apple Watch launched in 2015, the device, currently codenamed N301 will place Apple in direct competition with industry leaders Meta Platforms Inc., among other VR and AR devices makers.
Pitted against the best-selling Meta Quest 2 and Meta’s highly anticipated ‘Project Cambria’ device could mean Apple will spur on a hardware war and lead to a rapid increase in MR development. While Apple currently requires its devotees to use AR tools via iPhone or iPad, a dedicated headset will be the company’s first foray into true VR or AR territory.
A Pricey Purchase for Porn Use
Hardware devices make up approximately 80% of Apple’s annual sales, so there’s every reason to expect a huge commercial push for widespread adoption of its new device. A retail price predicted to be upwards of $2,000 could be a major barrier to potential customers becoming actual users but if Apple has proven anything over its lengthy history of hardware innovations, it’s that many millions are willing to part with a substantial amount of money for its latest piece of kit.
Although Apple has famously stated that porn has no place on its devices, millions of iPhone users with an adult site bookmarked in their preferred browser would have to speak against that claim. Whatever limitations Apple imposes on users of its upcoming VR/AR device, the porn fans of the world will undoubtedly find a way to enjoy virtual and augmented reality sex on their new Apple acquisition.

The predicted price is a bit of a deal breaker for me.
