As is often the case when Apple announces and releases a new piece of hardware, many balked at the lofty price tag of the Cupertino giant’s debut VR/AR device, Apple Vision Pro. At $3,499, it’s easy to see why even the most eager adopter of new AR tech would be hesitant to purchase Vision Pro, especially since Apple routinely releases a slimmed-down, more affordable version of each of its more ambitious (and expensive) devices.
Lite as a Feature
Since Vision Pro opened for pre-order on Jan 19, 2024, consumers and pundits wondered when a more modestly outfitted and affordably priced iteration would follow. Now rumors are flowing, giving credence to the idea and pointing to what an Apple Vision Pro “Lite” might look like.
In order to bring not only the price but the form factor of Vision Pro down to a more accessible level, Apple is likely to involve a secondary computing device like an iPhone, iPad, MacBook, or iMac. This would allow Apple to remove some of the larger components and bring both size and weight down significantly.
Affordability: Accessible
Reducing the need for internal computing components would also lower costs, although the most significantly expensive component of the current Vision Pro is the micro-OLED display panels. Apple could address this expense by finding alternate sourcing of micro-OLEDs and, according to tech tipster @Tech_reve, knocking up to 50% off the retail price.
A “lite” version of Vision Pro would be great news for VR and AR porn fans. Apple may not be the most porn-friendly tech company out there but it does often define new trajectories of technological advancement, alter the entertainment landscape, and hold a strong place in commercial culture.Rely on VRPorn.com to bring you all the evolving news and unveiled specs related to Apple Vision Pro Lite as they come to, well, light.
