The first virtual or mixed reality device from Apple, the $3,500 Apple Vision Pro, has struggled to find wide adoption since its release in early 2024, partly due to its retail price. It has, however, impressed many of those who took the plunge with its advanced technology and vast capabilities. As the spatial computing market heats up, many are speculating about Apple’s next moves.
A Steady Drip, Drip, Drip
Leaked information regarding successors to the Apple Vision Pro suggests two distinct devices, a “lite” version with a significantly lower price point and a true successor that advances the product line into a second generation.

Although the lite edition was initially expected much sooner, industry sources now claim the Apple Vision Pro Lite will be released sometime in 2027, while the next release will be Apple Vision Pro 2, expected to land in late 2025 or early 2026.

Vision Pro 2 will likely feature Apple's M5 chip, an upgrade over the first generation’s M2. This will undoubtedly improve performance and efficiency. FCC filings for a device identified as “A3416” also suggest that Apple will not dramatically alter the physical design of the current Vision Pro, aside from an expected black shell option. Instead, upgrades will focus on hardware improvements and performance gains.
Liter, More Affordable
A more affordable Apple Vision Pro is expected to arrive under the name Apple Vision Lite or Apple Vision Air. Aimed at a less elite consumer demographic, this device seems intended to expand Apple’s reach into the broader XR market, something Vision Pro’s high price made next to impossible. Whether this device will make Apple’s Vision line more appealing to gamers and porn fans remains to be seen, but it will surely be instrumental in its potential success.

Porn in particular would benefit greatly from an Apple Vision Lite, likely spurring more XR content from creators and producers. With Apple Vision Pro’s excellent full-color passthrough setting a new standard of dynamic immersion, such a device - at such a lower price point - could become the gold standard of mixing the virtual and the actual for viewers of VR, AR, and XR porn.
