That first time I tried VR porn, it was mind-blowing: it was everything 3D porn with its gimmicky glasses failed to deliver, but much more immersive and believable. I would look around the room and play the game called “Where I would be looking if I truly were having an affair with this hottie?”. And after checking out her sex goddess body, I would look around to notice if she’s a tidy lady and keeps her room clean, observe her oral technique, and then try to talk to her (as ladies always ask questions, but your protagonist reacts just like Gordon Freeman from Half Life). Hey, I suppose we all have our weird experimental side and we can all get geeky when we try new technologies.
The next dozen of times, it kept delivering high-quality material, fulfilling some of my deepest and most intimate fantasies (I’d be curious to know what yours are), and making me reach unbelievably great orgasms.
However, we all inevitably reach a point in which we become critical of certain aspects and discover limitations of the new and still emerging and developing VR technology. I hope that porn studios, developers of the technology and users alike read these lines and try to find some improvements and solutions. I’m no engineer and can barely understand some very fundamental principles of how this groundbreaking technology works – but if it can be this good, it can certainly get a lot better. It’s still in the early days of development since entering the consumer market, right?
First of all, sometimes it’s really a shame that you can only move your head and it doesn’t make much of a difference if you sit or stand. Of course, VR porn is scripted and the idea behind it is that you to try to replicate what you see through the goggles. But it can get really awkward at times if you stand for some steamy doggy-style or the lady’s gentle blowjob (if you’re a lady, it’s a lot weirder to get into all the positions just for the sake of imitation). Of course, the way you enjoy VR porn is entirely your choice and there is no rule regarding the way you decide to use your daily intimacy time. But in spite of its stunning visual realism, there should be a lot more to it.
Secondly, sex is much more than a series of caresses on the sexual organs.
The reason why watching VR porn without a partner to satisfy you is that the experience is incomplete. My regular sex routine also includes tender kisses, tight hugs, grabbing the lady’s wrists and squeezing them hard, the exchange of dirty talk, and even some occasional hair-pulling and spanking if the situation requires. You can’t have any of these experiences in VR porn at its current stage of development, and singular experiences can sometimes feel awkward. The whole immersive virtual reality is believable to the eye, but I’ve never really felt shivers down my spine when the girl first touched my virtual body.
Throughout my searches and documentation process, I did find some articles about a full-body suit for VR porn, which stimulates the part of the body that is being touched in the virtual experience: much like the Lovense products, but for every inch of the user’s skin. However, I am not such a big fan of mute sexual experiences, in which I just lay passively and wait for a lady to pleasure me. I’m not that lazy and to me sex is also a very psychological game: it gets more meaningful as you make up a story about why having sex at that certain moment was necessary and how the partners feel about it at that moment. I also like to take charge of the action instead of just being there.
Would a VR suit be great for immersive experiences? Yes, definitely. However, the technology has to move on to also develop the user’s interactions: I would love to be able to respond, to make demands and to get equally-intelligent answers. What if, instead of just passively watching this gorgeous woman ride you, you could ask her to go faster or slower, you could tell her to turn around, you could play the “Who’s your daddy?” game, and ultimately you would have some sort of small dialogue.
I can even imagine having real-time virtual sex with the avatar of a pornstar or even with a person on the other side of the camera (though the privacy issues involved are really complex, but it isn’t that different from the already-existing cam to cam action). And I know that it would be really hard for the porn industry to adapt to this new standard – and unless the sales for VR technology go off the roof and bring huge profits, it’s very unlikely that they will take the risk of investing millions of dollars in research and development.
However, if I could only talk with the pornstar pleasuring me and have small interactions, I’d be more than happy.
I have a partner for everything else and the intimacy we enjoy together is irreplaceable. VR porn has only spiced our life and allowed us to enjoy different scenarios and fantasies. Actually, our communication has made up for all the minuses of VR porn’s current limitations: we exchanged affection and showed the tenderness the films lack, but we could also watch a better-looking sexual partner through the goggles, thus creating a new level of stimulation and excitement.
In conclusion, VR porn can get a lot better if it receives more interactivity and allows you to enjoy much more than the basic stimulation of your penis or vagina while a pornstar acts as eye-candy. The technology is quite new, the porn studios are still learning how to perfect it and the actors might be a little awkward at first (famous and prized Hollywood actors have trouble acting in front of a green screen too) – but from this point on, it will all get better.
VR porn has the potential to outgrow its current POV passive experience into a virtual world, and producers better start innovating. As I’ve argued in previous articles, virtual reality can cure loneliness and certain sexual anxieties for the elders and disabled people, but it can also be educational or therapeutic for sex addicts and sex offenders such as rapists who have a hard time controlling their basic instincts. Ultimately, VR is a technological extension of our lives, which allows us to escape our dull and routinely lives and eventually have that foursome with 3 incredible beauties who wouldn’t even talk to you in real life.

You talk about some how the future will be more interactive. What do you think about the adult vr “games” that are out there currently? Thanks.

I suppose you could call me a very old-fashioned guy, as I prefer real people over computer-generated pixels. They might be great for those who fancy creating their own fantasy, but I wouldn’t trade porn’s sex goddesses for a stack of polygons that resemble women with ideal proportions.
The idea is that I expect porn studios to adapt to the capabilities of the technology and bring interaction with the pornstar. Not live interaction by any means, but you should at least be able to get a reply or make changes in real time. I can understand that the poor ladies will have to work much more for such a product, but I believe it’s the way to the future 🙂

I agree, vr porn will get much better. This is just the earliest times here. Like Nintendo 8-bit.

It will surely be! I’m excited how much it will evolve in the future.
