Catatonic is the new short VR Movie from VRSE. I made this video review to give you a taste of the real thing and tell you what I think about it.
VRSE is making some of the best quality VR movies available.
And I am very thankful to them because there are quite a few VR movie producers putting out some real junk. VR tends to amplify everything. So if it’s cool, it’s really cool. But when the film quality is bad, it’s disturbingly bad.
Those shaky, screwed-up 3d, cylindrical (not spherical), “VR” experiences can be uncomfortable and/or underwhelming.
What It’s About
Catatonic puts you in the body of a new patient in a mental institution. You are in a wheelchair and you feel like you are going through a haunted house ride.
Could Be Scary
It can be scary and disturbing for some. So fair warning. But I tried it and it wasn’t too bad at all, in my opinion. It’s certainly not in the same league as a horrifying game like Dreadhalls.
Watch The Video
I won’t say too much more about it here. If you want to read more, then Wired.com did a great write-up and interview on Catatonic and VRSE.
Also, a 2d video doesn’t come close to the real VR experience. I recommend trying it yourself from VRSE.com.
Now, let’s get straight to the video!
