One of the most disconnecting aspects of present day virtual reality experiences is the lack of feeling or touch that users are able to experience. To remedy this problem, many companies are focusing on haptic vibration technologies. In contrast, Exiii is using technology that seems like it came from a science fiction movie.
EXO VR
The Japanese developer Exiii is using exoskeleton technology to create a device that will make virtual objects appear to feel solid. They call their new tech “reactive force” because their system uses an exoskeleton glove to react or respond to players hitting or touching virtual objects. At this time, their system only focuses providing a sense of touch for a given user’s hands. In describing their system Exiii says “EXOS features an exoskeletal mechanism that reduces looseness and distortion, enabling it to exhibit the right amount of force and the correct joint angles.”
More or less, Exiii has created a programmable Exoskeleton skeleton glove. The glove creates a sensation of pressure that one typically feels when touching objects by loosening or tightening specific elements of the exoskeleton mechanism.

By creating more or less pressure in the glove, users feel like they are holding objects or pressing up against objects. At this point in development, Exiii’s system is still somewhat limited. The limits of EXOS VR will definitely be a nuisance to users of virtual reality porn. Let me explain why.
Limits of the Exiii’s Technology
Currently, the exoskeleton glove only allows for independently tracking and adding sense to the user’s thumb and the other four fingers. Therefore the system provides a very claw or mitten-like experience. This means that you can not have independent finger control. With this in mind, your virtual finger banging scenarios are going to be out of the picture.
Aware of these issues Exiii is attempting to make their robo-claw at least a little well fitting. They say:
“In addition, although movement may seem to become restricted when the device is covering the hands, its four joints have actually been arranged based on observations made during prosthesis development. In this way, the hand is able to cover sufficiently the basic movements of pinching and gripping.”
This means that the EXO VR is designed to realistically mimic the most important elements of hand movement. I can think of some ways that it won’t move. Yet, this is only a start. This device is aways away from retail release (it’s in prototype form).
EXO VR of the Future?
With a little time and maturity, Exiii’s glove could become an awesome add-on or a core piece of a virtual reality set. It’s easy to imagine an improved EXO VR that allowed independent finger control with extra sensors and haptics that could replicate different sensations. With all the money being poured into virtual reality research and development these days, this is not an unrealistic vision. With technology like this, potentially users could feel any object that they touch with their hands in virtual reality. This means you could reach out and grab this bubble butt while feeling a perfect ass jiggle.

Haptics will really change the way we interact within the VR space and still get a real-life feel…

I wonder what it really feels like with this glove…. I tried the underwear for long distance relations and it was not very pleasant, hope this one would be better!

LOL, that first pic with the bigfoot dude is kind of freaky. Anyway I wish Exiii luck, VR needs much more development on the haptic front.
