Welcome back to Fogging Up The Headset, the show where we critique everyone’s favourite part of porn: the plot.

On this installment, we examine a scene from the fine people over at VR Bangers called ‘BFF Sleepover,’ starring the big boobied Lucy Li and the small boobied Lady Dee.

This scene, as stated earlier, is a voyeuristic lesbian scene, set on a bed in a bedroom. The bedroom looks a bit empty, having nothing except a bed and some picture frames. One of the frames even has a picture in it. ‘What is the picture of?’ you ask? Well, according to one commenter on the VRporn.com comments, it’s Hitler himself.

Going from the title of the video alone (there is no actual evidence in the video of this), Lady and Lucy are on the bed for a sleepover. The scene opens with them drinking wine. When Lady asks Lucy (0.20) “[Did] You buy this today? Where?” Lucy replies “The supermarket.” Look, I’m not a teenage girl or anything. But if I were, and I went to a sleepover with my BFF, I don’t think wine would be my go to drink. Maybe if I hid a bottle of vodka under my bed, I could drink that.

About 30 seconds into the video (0.35) we get the first indication that we are actually in this scene. Lucy looks at the camera with a lovely I’m-drunk-but-I-don’t-want-to-admit-it look, head cocked to the right, staring down the viewer awkwardly.

I almost wish the director of this scene made the scene truly voyeuristic (without acknowledging the viewer) because acknowledging the viewer awkwardly disrupts the connection between the two girls. I’ll talk about this a little more in the A Note On section, so stay tuned. The two then gives ‘Cheers!’ to my face with their glasses (0:40).

But no girls sleepover is complete without a pillow fight to the death. I actually think the description of the video on the VR Bangers website is a bit inaccurate when it says ‘feathers are going to fly’ because I can confirm I did not see a single feather. The girls don’t follow through with their swings and the pillows just bounce off their bodies like nothing.

After a while, Lady demands that Lucy give her her ass (1:32). But then Lucy retaliates (1:47) and starts spanking Lady’s ass. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say the girls like getting their asses spanked. Does the concept of war mean nothing to them?

After a minute or so (2:48), the pillows come away and the girls go in for the lesbian kiss. It’s nice and sensual, but far too discontinuous. The true kick in the gut is when you realize that the only person cock-blocking you is yourself. The girls can’t get a good enough look at you. They break up their hot lesbian kiss to look at you. It’s great that they think of you a little more than a third wheel, but I put on a voyeur scene when I want to watch, not to be watched (that privilege is reserved for JOIs).

The scene is relatively short (at about 24 minutes) compared to most other professional VR porn scenes, which are usually 30-40 minutes. It is composed of only one continuous shot, where the camera is set up right next to the bed.

The Singular Camera Position

It’s very rare in VR porn that we get a single one-size-fits-all camera setup. Normally the camera moves around with the sex positions. But, due to the very nature of a voyeur scene, the camera can afford to stay in the same place for most of the video.

‘BFF Sleepover’ uses only one camera position. What’s even more remarkable is that it works. It seems kind of awkward at the start, where the girls are kneeling on the bed, simply because you have to look up at them a bit and you feel a bit small. But when things start getting hot, that camera height becomes crucial to the success of the scene. Too high and you may not see many of the lower features (eg. the underside of the pussy of a girl in doggy style). Too low and you may not see may not see much beyond the side of the bed.

BFF Sleepover nailed it when they put the camera at ass height. Let’s take Lucy’s panty strip sequence as an example (7:38). Lucy is on all fours with her ass toward the camera. Lady slowly pulls down Lucy’s first bit of underwear to show a G-string wedged into the folds of Lucy’s labia. It’s a very hot sequence to watch but could you imagine if the camera was too low that you had to look up to see it, or too high that you miss the labia altogether? The camera position, with the asshole bang in center frame, makes this sequence so much more sexier to watch.

Cunnilingus

The main features of this scene are the two cunnilingus sequences. The first one has Lady eating out Lucy (12:30) and the second has Lucy eating out Lady (21:27). The two sequences are actually mirror images of each other, with Lucy lying toward stage right and Lady lying toward stage left. First of all, the fact that the first cunnilingus sequence of a 25 minute lesbian scene is 12 minutes into the video is actually unacceptable.

The two sequences are good. Not great, but good. The reason they are good is that they both have the foundations of a good cunnilingus sequence including:

• good positioning toward the camera
• inserting a finger or two
• paying the most attention to the clit
• audible moaning

These foundations are pretty much what all cunnilingus sequences are built on, from the most sensual of scenes to the most hardcore. The reason the sequences aren’t great is that this is all they do. It’s the bare minimum and boring to watch as a viewer. It’s like making toast and not putting anything on the toast so it just tastes bland and dry (toast = cunnilingus, stuff on toast = stuff that makes cunnilingus interesting).

If I were to fix one thing about these two sequences, it would be the engagement of the person receiving. Believe it or not, cunnilingus is a cooperative activity when it comes to porn. The person receiving could move their body with the motion of the tongue. They could grab the other person’s hair, forcing them to go deeper with their tongue. They could give some dialogue: “Yes, give me more! Don’t stop!” They don’t have to just sit there and take it like they’re accepting the inevitable.

• 7:40 – Lucy’s stripping sequence. This is definitely one of the hottest moments for me in this scene. Lady pulls off Lucy’s underwear to reveal a G-string that’s made it’s way tight into her pussy. She then pulls that off and starts spreading those pussy lips.

• 9:02 – *queef*
• 11:00 – Ass sandwich. Lucy climbs on top of Lady to show her pussy stacked on top of Lady’s. This is a nice view and a nice place to just pause the video for whatever reason. It would have been nicer if the girls perfectly lined up with the camera so the shot had a bit of symmetry to it. But it’s so fucking cute when Lucy starts laughing hysterically and falls on top of Lady (11:24).
• 19:14 – Lucy stares down the camera with enough conviction to take down a jury in a staring contest.
• 16:18 & 23:25 – Fake orgasms are fake.

A Note on Types of Voyeurism

For those of you reading who don’t know what voyeur porn is, it’s where the viewer is outside of the action of porn. This is in contrast to the more traditional filming of VR porn where the viewer is watching the porn through the scope of someone actually participating in the sex.

There are actually two distinct types of voyeur porn. In the first form, the actors will acknowledge your presence (like in ‘BFF Sleepover’). In the second form, the actors won’t (they continue as if they’re alone). To my knowledge, no one has actually named these two types. So I’m going to name them myself. The first form shall be called third-wheel voyeurism and the second shall be called peeping-tom voyeurism.

I want to argue that although BFF Sleepover was a form of third-wheel voyeurism, it should have been made in a peeping-tom form instead.

The girls are trying really hard to form a connection between them and the viewer and the connection between the two of them is suffering because of it. This is a disadvantage of third-wheel voyeurism. Take the first kissing sequence (from 2:48). It’s very hot and sensual and you just want to watch it play itself out. But the girls stop and just stare at you for a bit. They lose that connection to each other because they feel obligated to acknowledge your existence. If this had been peeping-tom voyeurism, they could have just carried on with passion and vigor.

Another example is where Lady grabbing at Lucy’s boobs and sucking on them (4:30). The sequence feels very stilted because Lady is making sure to present Lucy’s boobs to me at every chance she gets. So instead Lady trying to connect intimately with Lucy, she tries to connect with me, which in this sort of scene is a futile effort.

In most voyeuristic scenarios, including this one, the connection between the performers is much more important than the connection between the performer and viewer. Viewers will watch voyeur scenes to enjoy the intimacy of others, not necessarily to be watched themselves.

Third-wheel voyeurism does have it’s place in virtual reality porn though. I would argue it becomes very important in BDSM situations and in establishing a dominant-submissive relationship between the viewer and the performer. Imagine the sleepover scene again but you walk in on the two girls kissing and start telling them what to do for your own pleasure. You could be an older step brother or parent and tell them what to do from a corner of the room. You become the dominant and the girls obey everything you say. In that situation, third-wheel voyeurism would be much more successful.

Final Thoughts

Overall, this scene was not bad. I think the scene did what it needed to do but not much more. The relatively short 25 minute runtime kept the scene from becoming too monotonous and repetitive. I’m still astounded that the whole scene was done with a single camera position that worked for all sequences in the scene. I think the main problem with this scene is just the lack of creativity. Everything is does is done right… but it gets an E for effort.
