It’s the first true VR Video solution.
Google announced its ‘Jump’ project at GoogleIO 2015.
What is it?
In short, it’s amazing. All other 360 video setups have non-existent or poor 3d implementations. But this has perfect 3d, at least within an area your head would naturally move in.
- 360 VR Camera. It involves using cutting-edge VR cameras like the new GoPro VR camera,
- The Assembler. The true Google magic in the equation. This involves advanced technology that can take the raw camera footage, and compile it using “many computers” to create thousands of different viewpoints within an area around your head. This is real depth information.
- Youtube. Youtube will feature VR videos that anyone can watch on Cardboard and likely every other VR headset as well.
Here you can watch the key segment of the talk by Clay Bavor where he gives a great presentation of the details.
