Google is all to set to make new inroads in the VR tech industry and is preparing itself for the next big move! After announcing its own standalone headset on the first day of its Google I/O 2017 conference, the company went out announcing some major interesting updates to its Daydream platform. Known as the Daydream 2.0 Euphrates, this new update is set to bring a lot of new trend-setting features which could set up new benchmarks in the VR tech industry.
Google’s Own Digital VR Marketplace – Daydream Home
The new Daydream 2.0 update will add a dashboard kind of interface wherein you can easy and quick access to settings, notifications and even perform internal app switching just like a smartphone. With this update of the Daydream, UI Google wishes to put more content for users in Daydream Home, preferably the 360 video content that has been quite in demand within the VR community.
This means that just like the Oculus Home, Daydream Home is the new store wherein Daydream users can find all type of VR content easily.
Chrome VR
Google has been tirelessly working to get web-based content to VR even earlier, and the similar WebVR application allows users to directly watch their favorite porn videos available at VRPorn.com while streaming them through their web browsers.
However, in order to make this user experience even more enhanced, Google is planning to bring its Chrome browser to VR with the next Daydream update. Thus, you will be easily able to perform web browsing and navigate easily with the Daydream controller without the need to remove your VR headset. This Chrome VR will be quite similar to the existing 2D version of the app, wherein you can share the same bookmarks, history, and notifications, besides other things.
As you hit any kind WebVR content, the Chrome VR will switch you to a more immersive mode from the 2D webpages.
Head of VR at Google, Clay Bavor wrote, “Chrome VR, which will make it possible to browse the web in virtual reality, is coming to Daydream this summer. And we’re excited to support AR for the web, too. We’re releasing an experimental build of Chromium with an AR API coming soon, so stay tuned.”
Daydream Cast
This is an interesting feature as it lets you share all your in-VR experience with other people, outside VR. This means your friends and family can also watch the content that you are viewing in your VR headsets. Google is said to be using the existing Chromecast device using which you can beam for VR content onto a TV set.

YouTube VR Gets Social
The new Daydream Euphrates update will allow sharing of the 360 VR content on YouTube VR with your friends and family while sharing the same screen. This update allows you to invite your friends to this YouTube viewing experience and share videos with them.

Interesting new features…This will certainly give a big push to Daydream headset adoption… Let’s see if this is enough to give the already dominating Gear VR headsets a run for its money
