Since launch day, the HTC Vive’s price has been locked at $799. In contrast, Oculus Rift has already had a significant price drop making the Oculus Rift headset the more affordable premium VR option at 499 dollars. What Makes the Vive Worth 700 big ones?
The Vive is often considered one of the best premium VR headsets for a few reasons. First of all, it has an amazing svelte cool looking design. HTC, one of the top cellphone makers was responsible for the design of the headset, so it is not surprising that it looks bad ass. Beyond the HTC Vive’s looks, it also contains top of the line technology. That said, nearing its first birthday, the Vive is not as cutting edge as it once was. Not long in tooth, the HTC Vive headset includes a sharp OLED display running at the resolution of 2160 x 1200. To reduce nausea and judder, the headset runs at a fast 90Hz rate. It runs SteamVR and VivePort software. The field of view of the display is 110 degrees. If you use the laser tracking system that tracks the controllers and the headset, a 15 x 15-foot area can be tracked. It contains built-in audio and a built-in microphone.

The headset contains a variety of sensors such as accelerometers, a gyroscope, and a front-facing camera. The headset and controllers are tracked by a laser-guided system called the Lighthouse tracking system.
The controllers are uniquely shaped 3d tracked motion controllers. They contain 24 different sensors. Additionally, they have a multi-function trackpad, a dual stage trigger, and a unique “HD haptic” feedback system. HTC recommends that you have at least the following computer specs to use the HTC Vive:
