Want to play Honey Select but not sure what to do? Well, you've come to the right place.
You see, I wanted to review this game as it has been a staple in adult virtual reality gaming for a while now. But then I quickly realized that if I dropped a review for a game that no one knows how to play, I'd be a pretty bad conveyor of knowledge and my efforts in bringing this game to the limelight would be in vain. Woah, that's rock bottom. I don't really like the vibe of that, to be honest. To avoid that, I decided to just make an updated simple guide as the one on the site is a bit outdated. Don't worry. It's probably easier to install than you think.
1. Getting Honey Select
Just so that you're informed - I'll have us download everything we need to make the game work before putting it all together at the end of the article.
This is the trickiest part of this guide in a way. Unfortunately, Illusion's - the developers - online store does not allow for western transactions for any game other than VR Kanojo. Since there is no western release for the game, getting a copy can be hard. You can buy the game on eBay or some other similar website. Just make sure whatever site you choose is legit if you're giving them your money. If that doesn't work, then check out the
Honey Select community Paste Bin. I am confident there are methods on there showing you how to install the game. It's also a very useful resource for Honey Select, as it is constantly updated and has most of the games mods compiled into one place.

Got the base game installed through one way or another? Good. This guide works for all of the Game + DLC variants of Honey Select.
Cool, you are now past the hardest section. It's all smooth sailing from here on out.
2. Bringing in the Virtual Reality

While the newer versions of Honey Select come with virtual reality features, they're often seen by the community as subpar at best. To fix that we are going to download Eusth's virtual reality mod from here:
Virtual Reality Mod. Along with the mod,
it comes with a program that's pretty important for modding the game called IPA. It's basically used to update the game files to make sure whatever mod you added to the directory is loaded into the game. We'll go over it in more detail later. Onto step three.
3. Making It English
It would be really unfortunate going through this guide and skipping this part. You'll need a mod to translate the game to English as it is a Japanese game. Here is where you can find this mod:
Translation Mod. Stay put for now. For the sake of simplicity, we'll put everything together at the end. Onto step four.
4. Uncensoring the Game
As is the case with any Japanese products, this game comes censored. But hey, don't worry. It's okay. There are mods to fix that issue as well:
Male Uncensor Mod and
Female Uncensor Mod. Sweet! With the completion of this step, you just downloaded all the files needed to get the game running in virtual reality. Onto the last step - putting it all together!
5. Putting It All Together
Image credit: Illusion Now extract all the files you just downloaded - besides the game and the patch - into the mods folder. If you're ever prompted by your computer if you want to replace anything during this step, make sure to press yes. After extracting the mods, make sure to run
this patch as it will help make sure the game is up to date and when its asks for an installation path, point it towards the mod folder you just made. When the patching process is complete, you'll find a new folder with Japanese characters in your folder.
Make sure to drag all of its content(abdata,...,etc
) into the mod folder with similar files (abdata,..., etc). You are now done with the mod folders. Jolly good!
Onto the game folder. Now extract the game files into the games folders you created earlier. Then copy everything from the mods folder
(abdata,...,etc
) into the games folder
(also
abdata,...,etc
). If you're ever prompted to replace anything, remember to press yes! The last step is to drag the "HoneySelect_64.exe" file onto "IPA.exe". A console window should briefly pop up and close once the operation is complete. You can now just run "HoneySelect_64VR.exe" and enjoy!
Congratulations! You are done.

There is so much content out there for Honey Select that I couldn't possibly go over everything. If after playing it for a bit you find yourself aching for more then make sure to drop by the new and constantly updated
community PasteBin. It has most of the mods available for the game and all of the important ones. If you wanna mod the game further then I'd suggest you download everything under the "Required Plugins" besides IPA. Just copy the files from the zips into the Honey Select directory. They're actually not "required" at all if you're not modding the game further so if you're satisfied with the game as is then don't worry about it.
