In addition to creating immersive and high-end visual effects – sound – plays an equally important role in making the virtual reality experience – better. While understanding this need of VR headset users, audio specialists at Harman International, unveiled two new headphones designed specifically for Oculus Rift, under JBL subsidiary.
Most of the Oculus Rift users make use of the built-in headphones that come with the VR headsets. While some of the serious audiophiles, appreciate better sound quality and use high-end on-ear headphones with better filters for special sound effects. Harman has announced its new JBL headphones for both of these users.
The JBL OR100 are the in-ear headphones while the JBL OR300 are the on-ear headphones. Both these headphones let users enjoy the immersive sound effects with the JBL’s own Pure Bass sound technology. Moreover, both these headphones comes with built-in technology for ambient noise cancellation creating filtered and immersive sound effects. Also, they are straight away compatible with the Oculus Rift headphone connector and calibrated for hassle free connection.
The JBL OR300 on-ear headphones are extremely comfortable and lightweight. The custom fit design and pillow effect of the ear cup cushion offers hours of entertainment for watching movies, gaming and live-streaming events.
During the announcement, Dave Rogers, SVP & GM, SBU HMM & Global Markets, HARMAN said “Sound plays a crucial role in virtual and augmented reality experiences, so we’re excited to offer the OCULUS RIFT compatible headphones for this growing market. The JBL OR300 and OR100 headphones were built to deliver immersive sound to consumers seeking an unparalleled virtual reality experience.”

I’ll definitely take the over-ear over the in-ear. The vive headphones are so annoying how they always come out. Whereas the Oculus built-in over-ear headphones are just perfect.
