Augmented reality may be a more compelling use of virtual technology than VR itself, but without a piece of perfectly designed AR-focused hardware, it could be a difficult sell to consumers. Meta already canceled a public release of its first attempt at AR glasses. Can it beat Apple to the punch and bring consumers a device more powerful and more attractive than Apple Vision Pro? Given Meta’s usual pricing model, these glasses codenamed Artemis, are likely to be more affordable than Apple’s higher-priced products.
Pro vs Pro
The appeal of Apple Vision Pro relies heavily on its AR capabilities. Meta Quest Pro also offers AR functionality, but compared to Apple’s efforts, it can’t help but seem a bit limited. Enter (at some point): Meta Artemis. Rumored to be at least four years away from general release, Artemis is still under development and has already hit a few manufacturing obstacles along the way.Quest Pro did not receive the most encouraging response upon its launch, leading Meta to plan to stop manufacturing the device once its supply of components runs out. This comes as an opportunity to focus more intently on an AR device that will not only compete with Apple Vision Pro but the inevitable Apple glasses. If Meta delivers the goods with Artemis, it could catapult AR into mainstream use.
Perfect for Porn
VR porn has proven to be an evolutionary leap in adult entertainment, and it certainly appears high quality AR porn will be the next. With devices like Meta Artemis and Apple Vision Pro bringing with them a significant improvement in how AR functions and what it can deliver to the consumer, it’s an exciting time to be a porn fan and a tech lover, both.
