Meta Quest 3S was officially unveiled at Meta Connect 2024 on Sept 25 after many months of leaks teases, and rumours. Bringing VR/AR tech comparable to the highly regarded Quest 3 to consumers at a more affordable, accessible price, Quest 3S makes for a great first VR device or a worthwhile upgrade to, say, Meta Quest 2, still the best selling VR device in history.
Behind the Visor
With reviews of and reception to Meta Quest 3 being widely positive after the unfortunately flat reception to the ambitious Quest Pro, it’s only sensible that Quest 3S would arrive soon after. Although this slimmed down iteration of Quest 3 obviously wasn’t going to pack all the computing power or visual fidelity. That said, Quest 3S does do an admirable job of bringing a strong performing mixed reality device to market.
When compared to Quest 2, its closest competitor in terms of affordability and accessibility, Quest 3S offers 4.5 times the “high-definition” resolution and color and matches its predecessor’s Fresnel lens system and approximately 96° FoV. A battery life of 2.5 hours allows for a solid session in VR or AR (or both) and full color passthrough provides AR users ample opportunity to explore what is undoubtedly the next major phase of virtual tech use.
Comfort and Control
VR porn fans no doubt already know just how perfectly the Meta Quest family of devices suits virtual reality sex. From Quest 3 onwards, the same can be said for AR porn. Quest 3S being priced at $299.99 (128 GB model) and $399.99 (256 GB model) gives both dedicated VR porn viewers and newcomers alike an accessible option more powerful than any other currently available.
As porn moves deeper into AR and MR content creation, Quest 3S could soon become the most popular option for exploring this rapidly growing field of adult entertainment. Until, of course, Meta or a competitor trumps the Quest 3 line with its inevitable next generation of devices.

I am happy with my 3 right now, but this is great news for anyone still using the 2.
