Although Microsoft is appearing late to the virtual reality game, it would be foolish to discount the impact that the big M will have on the field as a whole. Xbox head Phil Spencer has recently dropped a big bomb that demonstrates how Microsoft intends to play virtual reality for keeps. Microsoft’s approach to virtual reality could have wide-reaching impacts on the industry as a whole and this includes virtual reality porn. Just last week, Phil Spencer said that Microsoft is creating a “Direct Reality” platform which shares many similarities and ambitions as Microsoft’s Direct X. This is important because most 3d software on PCs use Direct X in some manner or another.
Direct X and Direct Reality
The Direct Reality platform will be a set of APIs designed around virtual reality 3d functions which include 3d processing, video processing, and virtual reality sound processing. If Microsoft’s Direct Reality platform is half as successful, this means your VR porn simulations will use the Direct Reality standard someday. Such a platform could be a vessel for Microsoft to maintain and build its evil empire outward into the virtual reality future.

That said, Phil Spencer sees Direct Reality in a benight light. Spencer said that the Direct Reality platform is designed to make things easier for consumers and developers alike.
From the consumer standpoint, a universal developer platform makes things a lot easier. Similar to the plug-n-play push of the late 1990’s, Microsoft hopes that Direct Reality will make virtual reality devices work across the board and across the aisle, so to speak. Addressing this, Spencer says: “I think it’s important as the Windows platform company that we don’t start getting people tied into “Well you bought this [head-mounted display], sorry it’s not going to work with these other things.”
Do you think we need a virtual reality standard like Direct X?
From a developer standpoint, Direct X has been a blessing and a curse. On one hand, Direct X does make some developer tasks easier. Its 3d APIs make programming and developing intensive 3d games and 3d virtual reality porn much easier in terms of visuals and overall compatibility between Windows systems. On the other hand, Direct X is a pain in the ass for developers that need to develop Linux and MacOS versions of 3d clients and games. Additionally, Microsoft’s release pace often lags.

This means that the newest graphical bells and whistles can often only applied when a new version of Direct X is finalized. This creates problems for old versions of Direct X which often never get updates leaving old hardware in the dust. This was a problem with the Xbox 360 towards the end of its lifetime. More specifically, the Xbox 360 could not utilize Direct X API’s beyond Direct X 9, even though Direct X 10 was being used to develop many games that were released on both the PC and the Xbox 360 at the time. Developers had to pull double duty working with Direct X 10 and 9 for awhile.
All and all, it’s probably a good thing for VR porn experiences to be built upon the future Direct Reality platform. Developer problems aside, Direct Reality will make it easier for virtual reality porn developers to create smooth, high-quality, awesome effect laden virtual reality sex experiences that will be released in timely development cycles.

With more developers joining hands for creating 3d content , i guess Direct Reality can give a better push in creating more VR content

Any transition to a new standard always comes with a few hiccups, but ultimately I think Direct Reality will be good for the industry.
