Hello fellow virtual reality VR enthusiasts, this is your daily update on all things VR and VR porn related.
Nvidia GTX 970 Class Action Settlement
First up, Nvidia GTX 970 owners who purchased their GPU in the U.S. within the last two years could benefit from a class action settlement against the graphics card manufacturer. The company agreed to pay $30 for each GTX 970 purchased between September 1, 2014, and August 24, 2016.
The settlement is the result of allegations that Nvidia falsely advertised the storage capabilities and operating performance. Specifically, the allegations claim that instead of 4 GB random access memory, the GTX 970 operated on 3.5 GB with a separate .5 GB; and contained 64 render output processors (ROPs), instead of 56 ROPs, which was advertised.
Initial Class Action Lawsuit claim submission opened on September 11, 2016 and close on November 30, 2016.
I happen to own a EVGA GTX 970 and recently submitted a claim, it was quick and easy to submit online, that is if you have a product identification number or proof of purchase.
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 VR
Real time strategy (RTS) fans received their first glimpse of the classis RTS, Red Alert 2, recreated in VR on the HTC Vive using Unreal Engine 4.
Created by Ádám Horváth, is merely a proof of concept at this point, however it does implement creative ways to use a tablet style controller to command the battle field from above.
HTC Vive 2 rumored, Code-name ‘Oasis’
Last but not least, an HTC Vive 2 rumor has been leaked by a tweet by @LlabTooFer, and is code named ‘Oasis. ‘While there is little known about he new head mounted display (HMD), it would make sense for HTC to be working on a new HMD to compete with the wireless Oculus VR.
