Oculus Mobile VR Jam 2015

 

Today, Oculus VR announced a new VR Jam.

They’re giving away $1,000,000 in prizes and the final submission date is May 11, 2015.

For those who don’t know what a game jam is, it is when game developers get together to quickly release games.

This is quite a step up from the last time.  Oculus hosted a VR Jam in 2013 with “only” $50,000 in prizes.   It must be nice having $2 billion of Facebook money to play with.

We got some great VR experiences from the last VR Jam, including the winner Darknet and the almost-too-scary-to-play Dreadhalls.  Both of these games were released with the Gear VR and are 2 of the top 5 best games currently available, in my opinion.

The Gear VR is out in the wild, I have one and it’s great.  But it’s early in the product’s life and there isn’t enough content yet.

This VR Jam is sure to give us a lot of fun stuff to try in 2015!
