Pico Neo 3 Link will soon begin selling to customers in Europe and the UK. The device is set at a price of €449 and is available only in limited numbers. Pico (and TikTok) owner ByteDance made the announcement on April 14 at the Laval Virtual Europe event. Pico Neo 3 Link will be the first Pico device available for personal use outside Asia.
Behind the Visor
Pico Neo 3 Link is already looking like a strong competitor to the Meta Quest 2, being a powerful standalone VR unit costing less than $500 USD. Pico Neo 3 Link may essentially be a new version of the existing Neo 3 Pro for the European consumer market, but it still packs plenty of power. Adding wired video via a DisplayPort USB-C connector and doubling storage to 256 GB improves on the already powerful specs carried over from Neo 3 Pro.Offering a binocular LCD display with 1832×1920 per-eye resolution, 90 Hz refresh rate, and 98° horizontal and 90° vertical FOV, inside-out tracking via four integrated cameras providing 6 DoF, a Qualcomm XR2 chipset, 6 GB RAM, Bluetooth and WiFi, Pico Neo 3 Link has all that’s needed to not only challenge Quest 2’s market dominance but deliver smooth gaming, entertainment, and utility performance.
Who Dares Wins
A device sporting such specs yet remaining lightweight and mobile also naturally makes itself a strong candidate for more physical gaming and more salacious personal use. With Meta Quest 2 proving enormously successful not only for mainstream VR use but for more adult VR porn content, too, Pico Neo 3 Link could very well follow in its footsteps in regard to sales. This is especially likely in Europe, a market that hasn’t exactly made Meta feel welcome.Pico doesn’t seem to be resting after this announcement either, with word of a forthcoming Neo 4 already making the rounds. Even so, Pico Neo 3 Link is sure to be a boon to the European VR market and potentially to VR users worldwide.
