Who can forget Booger in the classic Revenge of the Nerds exclaiming “We’ve got bush! We’ve got bush!” as the nerds watched the sorority girls undressing. The ladies’ pubic hair was also called “hair pie,” and seeing it was a pretty big event—for the guys of Lambda Lambda Lambda and for anyone who grew up before the mid 90’s.
Beaver: a Brief History
It was always about the bush—curly blonde bush, dense pelts of dark brown, thin wisps in a beguiling triangle. Finding out what your girlfriend’s bush looked like was a big deal.
Then in the 90’s came the racing stripe and the Dorito, tiny patches of hair that seemed inspired by VHS porn and by strippers.
By the new millennium, it was all about being bald, with many young women never letting hair grow in. Pubic hair began to be seen like underarm hair, something you just did not do.
Call it a Comeback
We all knew it—the bush would come back. Sasha Grey generally sported a very thin but good-sized triangle and then Tanner Mayes began to follow suit. By about 2014, some porn series began to feature exclusively muff-sporting ladies, as though the director asked them to start growing it out a few weeks in advance.
It’s now back in full force. Starlets with—at least in a lot of scenes—some serious bush include: Karlee Grey, Peyton Coast, Yhivi, Keisha Grey, Zoe Parker. Quite a few porn starlets who haven’t yet made their VR debuts—but who undoubtedly will—are also hairy down there.
Who Likes Bush?
There’s no question that a lot of porn viewers of both gender over the age of thirty-five or so are relieved to have some hair back. There’s so much character and personality in it, while skin will always be just skin. Karlee Grey has a lush growth spread out to the sides, while Ziggy
Star has a thick strip that doesn’t spread far across, and Zoe Parker, who’s sometimes shaven, also treats us to a pretty sand-colored triangle.
The difference between how the young women are wearing it now and the 80’s style is that now, it’s never grown down next to the labia. There’s nothing getting in the way of cunnilingus or a good view of the pink. Neatness is key, even if there’s quite a bit there.
So, old-school dudes are happy, but what about others? Well, some feminists have long called for a return to the bush, since hair removal can be a bit painful, costly, etc. The urge to exfoliate could be seen as giving in to a porn-created style and sensibility. So, score one for the feminists.
However, one would imagine that young guys who are Brazilian Wax natives will be a bit confused and dismayed taking a look at, say, Cum In the New House, which features Yhivi’s ample hair.
And what about the women of Gen Z (the generation born roughly 1996 and later)? A common perception, since waxing and shaving have been prevalent for a whole generation, is that pubic hair is gross or that it means bad hygiene. Will it be a big turnoff for porn-viewing young ladies? Will they start being pressured into growing a bush by their boyfriends?
Will there be enough beav backlash that it will never truly catch on? Will we live in a world in which both the hairy and shaven (and everything in between) can co-exist? Watch this space.

Bushes are ok but then it should be nicely trimmed and shaped rather than a hairy affair…

not the biggest fan of bush. I like a little sometimes but it has to be the strip, not the wild wild west down there
