1.) Video Details — Next up on the review circuit is a better-than-average video by Naughty America featuring Ashley Adams. One of the pluses of the Naughty America website is that they give you what details they have on the women they feature, which is some of the pointless trivia I’ve come to almost expect to be provided. Knowing she was born August 7th, 1996, lets me know she was 20 years old at time of recording, and being about 120lbs, 5ft 9in tall, with some juicy 36D’s (36-24-35) then you know what you’re in store for is a thin, but-not-too-thin body, coupled with some naturally large bouncing breasts to entertain for those who like having something to watch from the waist up. The file size is coming back massive at 10.6 Gb for a 47:00 long scene. Its well worth it because it truly feels ‘HD’ when you have a 30Mbps video stream running at 60fps. Streaming was no issue via a USB-3 external drive, but if you’re still running a low rpm hard drive, you’ll encounter stutter, and will have to accept the lower quality bit rate. (7/7 Points)
2.) Environment / Premise — In the VR world, when it comes to porn scenes, I find that I want something believable, and when you’re trying to play your porn premise as ‘remember me? you should cheat on your girlfriend’ angle, it’s fantastic to have your ‘girlfriend’ open the scene, and then have the ‘cheating girl’ come in to greet you. It’s refreshing to be able to treat a fake porn scene seriously for it’s attempt to immerse you, and also be able to laugh at the nonsense ( @ 5:25, ‘Hey babe, we have to go to the store for some gluten-free charcoal.’ Hah! Genuine acting, and bad acting all in one. The awkwardness made the tension genuine, which then benefited the scene as a whole). After introductions (Brief introductions! None of this 5 minutes worth of dialogue b.s.) You’re treated to something rarely seen in the pornography world, two way mirrors + 3 dimensional depth of field. Which means you can watch your ‘girlfriend’ chat up Ashley’s boyfriend while she’s going down on you, and keep glancing up and down to make sure they’re not coming back yet. And boy-howdy is Ashley a delicious tease, she got me to perk up and look at the virtual door more than once while thinking ‘oh shit here they come!’ (I get pleasantly irritated when something in virtual reality psyches me out. Its like a magician doing a card trick I don’t understand. Shame on me for getting fooled, I watched everything they did, and I STILL got conned. Fantastic! ) The scene wholly takes place in the same room, and the scene changes are kept to a minimum, so get comfortable, you should be ready to stay put for a while. (7/7 Points)
3.) Usage of 3rd Dimension — The real triumph of the scene was the guy in charge of coming up with a believable sex scene. Whoever is on the writing staff for Naughty America deserves a cookie for coming up with this one. A veritable virtual reality experience if you’ve ever wanted your girlfriend to walk out of the room where you could keep an eye on her, and have one of her besties go down on you while you keep look out was just phenomenal. (Ashley’s look of panic as the door sounds and they walk back in gave me such a grin I couldn’t help myself.) For the video, when looked at as an entirety, the depth was done exactly the way it should have been. The close ups don’t block out the video and leave you cross eyed, and the depth of field during close ups seemed sharper in this video. Her long hair hanging loose over her eyes as she climbs onto your lap and rocks back and forth, each strand changing depth really makes you feel like you’re on that squeaky leather sofa with her. Really wishing they could expand on the mirror idea though, maybe take the concept to a VIP room setting with strippers in the background, or a party in the background that lasted the entire scene’s duration, or hey, getting interrupted mid-way, caught, and watching the ‘girlfriend’ freak out in the background with her friends while you two keep going. So much open potential, but definitely a step in the right direction. (6/7 Points)
4.) Engagement — For as many pro’s as this video has, it still suffers from what I would consider con’s, to the tune of fake engagement. I think this is more an issue with the director’s instructions rather than actor’s delivery. About the 22:00 mark, you’re presented with a ‘lick my pussy scene’ which is Miss Adams bouncing her lovely pussy in front of your face. Which on it’s own would be great, but when she keeps telling me to hold my tongue right there, what am I expected to do, lick at the open air? (Maybe have her dig into her purse for a modestly sized toy, if you won’t let our virtual stud use his hands for anything.) Afterwards, she offers her juice soaked fingers right into my face. Sure, I get that’s what she wants me to do, lick her fingers and taste her juices, its a nice try, but with zero pay off to it (No flavor based virtual reality) I’m guessing this is a director’s choice to try to please the highest number of people, and throwing a bone to the guys who are just so super into that. I applaud the attempt to step up the immersion game, but it was just fingers up my nose, and I could really do without that. (5/7 Points)
5.) Camerawork — All scenes shot are directly in POV, and have kept the scene changes to a minimum. This means that all actors had to nail their lines for the ‘story’ the first go around, which they did well enough. There are a handful of editing things that they couldn’t be bothered to fix, (random door squeaks in the background, and the outside door bottoming out the microphone for example) but sort of hard to find too many faults with my girlfriend’s awkward pause while telling me to watch for guests, when I’m too busy laughing about the gluten-free charcoal we’re going to set on fire later. (Even though I immediately took Ashley’s opinion of “Hey, whatever makes better burgers, as long as it’ll get you out of the house for the next 30 minutes.”) There are a total of 4 camera angle changes, but a few fade to blacks along the way, 4 or 5 per angle, to speed up the action. The first two camera angles are fine, but the 3rd camera angle is bent down at a 45 degree angle, messing up reality-straight-lines, and virtual-straight-lines. You have to keep your head looking down to now watch the video, which felt weird. (5/7 Points)
6.) Replayability — Out of a 47 minute scene, there are maybe 15 minutes worth of replayable portions. If they offered a ‘5 minute version’ It’d be an amazing scene hands down, so long as they played their edits right. After watching it in VR, I re-watched it while skipping around through the video, and you really don’t get the same impact when she’s in your face. The ending shot is a real let down, but the intro and middle of the scene were top-notch stuff. (6/7 Points)
7.) Overall — What started out as an A+ scene, gradually degraded itself into a B scene because of a handful of small annoyances that creeped up. The early camera cuts were good and made sense, the later camera cuts were lazy, and new items appear out of nowhere. In the beginning I had hands, and gave thumbs up and stuff, albeit that I’m on the quiet side of the conversationalists. But suddenly when the situation begins to get heated, I suddenly lose where my hands went in front of this girl who wants me to do all these dirty things to her. It takes til the third scene, over half an hour in before I can put my hand on her ass, and the look she gives when your thumb finds its way down door #2.. Oh yeah! Let the guy have a little more freedom to work his magic on her! (6/7 Points)

Very in depth review, thanks! Would you say this scene and quality is typical of all Naughty America VR? Or does it vary, like with newer vs older ones?
I wouldn’t say typical, no, their production quality is the biggest thing that’s a huge unknown until you watch the whole thing start to finish. Naughty America is what I would call ‘mainstream porn’ because their scenes are almost cookie cutter stamp outs of the same scenes/positions being recorded in different locations, and with different people. When you’re angle on selling ‘virtual reality’ is ‘watch the same video over and over with little deviation’ I can’t help but not feel immersed. Biggest difference I can tell from ‘old videos’ to ‘new videos’ is that they are putting more focus into lessening locomotion sickness with quicker scene changes, and longer running time between film cuts / camera repositions.
(Naughty America is real big on the male being stationary/immovable, and the female being the protagonist, and the viewer is expected to be the one using their imagination while being immersed in the false-porn world. But the problem this causes is the immovable / silent male lead breaks the immersion of me watching a porno flick, and watching what the guy does, which more often than not, is flat nothing.)
If you’re big into strip clubs, and you want to take the lap dance idea on tour with different locales, and different females to give you a virtual going over, they’re definitely the people to go see, but it doesn’t look like they’ve figured out a cohesive formula. What they need to do is trust the guy who over saw the first 5 minutes of film, and demote the guy who over saw the remaining half an hour back to the 2d screen. Older vs newer doesn’t correct that, though.
