Virtual Harem 34…
So, what is Virtual Harem 34? It’s a front end for loading in user-created content. VH34 takes user-created CGI, 3d models, animations, and backgrounds and allows them to be loaded into a 3d environment on the Vive and Oculus Rift. Currently, it’s still in development but it does show a lot of promise. The nice thing about a front end like VH34 is that user-created content has zero impact on the developer, which means they can do their job without worrying about messy legal details. One of the other nice things about this kind of program is that it uses a container .vsf file formats to accomplish said goal in Unity. That means anyone with some talent for modeling and animating will eventually be able to create content for VH34. Further, because everything is held in the container file, new content is easy to add, distribute, and then delete if you ever decide you don’t want it. It’s all done in one file instead of 20 or 30 separate files.
Into the program…
The program itself is simple enough to get a hold of. Go to Virtual Harem 34’s Patreon page, donate $1, and download away. Once downloaded, you’ll need to find some content. Remember, this is just a front end right now. That means, technically, it’s no different from WinZip or something like that. You download it and use it to access content.
Starting off, things are a bit dull and this program suffers from one of the common faults of Vive games. That being said, some of the environments are loaded “backward,” so you have to turn around. This will probably be fixed in a later release. Turning around, however, gives you a wall of text and some information. This IS an early alpha, though…
A word on the controls.
The controls of this adult VR game are a bit clunky, and if you’re like me and didn’t read that random stuff… Hold down the trigger and push up or down on the touchpad to select a “menu” option. Release the trigger to activate it. There’s no teleporting around as of yet, so you’ll actually have to get up and move around a bit in your environment to see things from different angles. That being said, on the first module, there are some interesting things to see, you can watch a nice slow flyby of earth off in the distance which was pretty cool.
The earth does actually move from right to left. While it’s nothing special, it does show that content creators will be able to have some nice background stuff going on, which is pretty cool.
Onto the models.
The scene itself is nicely detailed and objects are grouped in a manner to where you’re not going to be tripping over stuff trying to avoid an object and stay in your play area at the same time. The more VR games you play, the more you’re going to appreciate clean open environments unless you’re a ninja and you have some crazy need for nonexistent stuff to hide behind.
The character models, however, are nice… And did I mention this is community-created content? That’s right. VH34 doesn’t produce any of their own content. They rely on the community to build models and scenes. This means they’re never going to run into an issue that holds them back with regards to “likeness rights.” So, got a thing for Princess Leia? Maybe a Widowmaker or Hermione fetish? Well then, team up with some content creators, build your own VR porn game and your own virtual Millenium Falcon cockpit, and make it a real cockpit with Slave Leia and her twin sister pole dancing before having sex. The only downside is that not all modelers are as good as others. So as this develops in the future, expect to see a good bit of variance between models, backgrounds, and animation quality across the different community content creators.
Anyways, I turned on my chaperone settings to give you guys an idea of the scale. Everything here is scaled to be life size. The couches are at about just the right height, as is the table. The models are also tall and big enough (I’m 6’2″) to where I don’t feel like I get a creepy pedo vibe and I’m not playing with a doll. Physics on the breasts and butts still need a little bit of work, but overall, they’re still pretty decent. Let’s put this in perspective: it’s an Alpha version, and it’s currently 0.15… So it’s pretty early. Despite it being an early alpha, though, I didn’t experience any crashing, so it’s stable, and that’s something nice!
The fact that the models are open-source to the point where he includes a “converter” for people interested in making 3d models is another cool little thing. After reading the tutorial, I felt like even though I’ve no modeling experience, I could still stumble through it.
On to Setup…
Setting this up is pretty easy. You simply download and unzip it into a folder. At that point, all you have to do is RTFM. Follow a simple direction, and create a directory called….
That folder is where you’re going to drop all of the .vsf files. Those files contain the model data, animation, and I guess the “locations/menu triggers”? Anyways, this program seems pretty good for people with some modeling and animating skills that want a convenient unity based platform on which to build, share, and experience anything their heart desires. That, of course, allows you to get nice dancing scenes and gratuitous life-sized ass-shots like those on virtual reality porn scenes. 😀
Check them out, it’s worth seeing what people are coming up with. Also, if you decide to support him, be sure to check out the modeling toolkit as well. It’s nothing insanely fancy, but who knows, maybe you’ve got a friend that is into creating stuff and this could be right up their alley.
But what else is there?
Currently, the VH34 group is working on a “college witch” scene which should be a pretty good port of the “Hermione” experience. For anyone else out there with a bit of an Emma fetish, this would be a pretty good one to check out. The progress is slow but steady, and even if it’s not done this week, it would be well worth bookmarking and checking on every now and again to see what else these guys are coming up with.
Anyways, the link to the Virtual Harem 34 Patreon page is right here. Check em out.
