Samsung has reportedly moved its long awaited AI-aided smart glasses device, a collaboration with Google and Qualcomm, into a new phase it is calling “the execution phase.” In the works since 2023, the smart glasses are part of an effort by Samsung to bring its products and users into a “New era of mobile agentic AI.”

Jay Kim, executive vice president of Samsung's mobile division, arrived at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona with a clear, concise message. The headset era was a stepping stone, not the destination; smart glasses were always the goal.
"Everybody talks about what the next AI device is," Kim told attendees, "and I know I've been looking at many different types of devices. Glasses, obviously, is one of them and everybody's looking at it.”
The Long Road to Market
Samsung's ambitions here are not new. Since 2023, the company has been collaborating with Google and Qualcomm to co-design the operating system, chip architecture, and hardware for a mixed-reality platform, which would blend virtual and augmented reality into a seamless experience. The Galaxy XR headset was the first fruit of that partnership. Smart glasses are the next.

Seong Cho, Samsung's executive vice president of mobile experiences, confirmed that the glasses project has moved into "the execution phase" of development, during which the product moves from a design project to a manufacturing project.
Samsung’s first foray into the AI-aided smart glasses market will reportedly include an eye-level camera and require a connection to a smart phone. Built around the Qualcomm A1 platform and integrating into Samsung’s larger Galaxy XR ecosystem.
Portable Porn Powerhouse
The runaway success of AI assistants like ChatGPT, Claude, and Google Gemini has fundamentally shifted expectations of what a computing device can and should do. Where once users maintained control, they now expect software to think, anticipate, and respond to their needs. Smart glasses, with their always-on, hands-free form factor, are arguably the most natural vessel for that kind of functional intelligence.

According to Kim, Samsung aims to “have something for industry this year,” a product that may make the XR headsets of today seem like the folding brick cell phones of the ‘90s. For porn fans, that impressive form factor and computing power are a golden opportunity. With impressive passthrough AR porn on the rise and both studios and independent producers adopting new AI tech as quickly as their fanbases, if not faster, mixed reality glasses offer an excellent opportunity to take erotic entertainment to new heights of immersion.
