A magician’s act is engineered to make you question your own reality. He takes life as you understand it, and opens your eyes to something so exciting and tangible that you instantly see it as real.
VR porn creates that same illusion for viewers. Our brains can’t tell the difference between a VR video and reality. Having an actual sexual encounter with an actress who’s way out of our league, is only one click away.
This is a magical thing.
*** Spoiler Alert ***
Today VRPorn.com is showing you the industry secrets on how this brand new type of immersive porn is created.
Prepare to be amazed at the technology that goes into creating each frame of the fantasies served up on vrporn.com.
The Technology Behind VR Porn
The internet has been blazing with viral videos of people reacting to their first VR Porn experience. The reactions range from a perma-grin, to complete mental freakouts. People just can’t wrap their minds around it. Your brain tells you ‘this is real’, and depending on the person, that’s very exciting.
So how do you go about creating this powerful experience? The answer lies in the camera’s… lots and lots of cameras.
Filming porn in VR can require anywhere from 7 to 25 cameras. Many of the current videos available only have 180 degrees field-of-view, but that is rapidly evolving to 360 degrees. With more degrees of sight comes more cameras.
Why does it take so many cameras to shoot VR scenes? Because a normal camera shoots what you put in front of it, with a roughly 60 degree FOV. VR cameras capture the reality happening all around them, so the viewer can literally step into that reality themselves.
The cameras are just one high tech element of the equation. It’s not just a change in camera angle that requires tweaking to create the highest quality VR porn, the way it’s filmed has also been evolving.
The VR Stage
You can look up and down, left and right, and pretty soon you’ll be able to look all around. Every angle, even behind you, will contain hidden pleasures out of view of standard films.
This level of freedom comes with it’s own limitations, though. For example, proximity can be an issue with this technology. You also can’t have the actors too close to the cameras. If they are within 3 feet you’ll get a parallax effect which can ruin the immersive experience.
Creating a scene that puts you right inside the room also leaves zero space for directors, crew, and lighting/sound elements. Somewhere on every set, there is a sweaty crew of people capturing the fantasy you are watching. Hiding them hasn’t been an issue until now. So where do they hide?
Most of the VR porn available is shot to produce 180 degree field of view. That is rapidly evolving to 220 degrees as we speak. These scenes allow just enough space to quietly tuck away the crew in the background until new innovations remove them completely. How that will happen is a problem being solved in the production labs of our partners on vrporn.com today.
The VR Scene
Once you capture all the footage, how do you take the footage and make turn it into an actual VR experience? The general idea is to take that footage and map it inside an equirectangular dome. This allows you to see around the scene from inside a dome shaped space.
Picture a VR porn scene as a piece of wallpaper, each scene has to be layered just right to eliminate any errors. Stitching errors, skipping and other problems can instantly ruin the illusion of reality. So post-production standards are rising rapidly.
The ‘wallpaper’ of footage is pasted inside this bubble, and covers the inside walls surrounding you. This allows you to see up, down, and all around. That is how the virtual reality porn scenes are currently created. When you’re watching vr porn, you’re literally inside a ‘tiny world’ all your own.
The Actors
Many of the ‘reaction’ videos that are all over the internet, feature scenes like the ones you can watch here on vrporn.com. The viewer is a man (you) watching the fantasy unfold. Your body becomes his. His pleasure become yours.
The actresses have had to adapt to vr porn filming methods in order to generate this level of realism. The standard angles and body positions just don’t work in vr. Twisting, turning, and bending into position are required to get the proper angles for vr porn.
“You often have to lean wayyyy back to get the angles you want”, said one VR actress in a recent behind the scenes video. “You get bruises and aches, but it’s still the wild west in terms of vr porn, we’re inventing a new way of shooting these films in real time.”
Another actress said “I have trouble keeping my legs in so they don’t go out of the view of the viewer’s (headset) and break the reality of it (the scene).” She continued, “We’re not going to be able to hide every single flaw. It’s almost a whole new level of vulnerability for exposing yourself on camera. It’s like, here’s the whole picture. You can’t hide any flaw you have or rely on just looking good from one angle.”
Rehearsals have become a standard operating procedure to avoid re-takes or scene cuts. There are no retakes in real life after all.
Filming is still sometimes rough and often includes just one user position, which is at least 8 positions less than we demand. Don’t worry though, that is all changing.
What’s Next For VR Porn?
There’s no doubt about it, VR Porn is here to stay. So far, the porn and gaming industries have seen massive amounts of early adopters. But where do we go from here?
In a future scenario, you interact with the actress of your choice. It’s directed by YOU in real time. Instead of picking the hottest videos from our site, you select the model you want to interact with first.
Then in a virtual space, you decide what happens next. 1 on 1 (or 1 on 3 if you prefer) you decide what will happen next.
I don’t have any aspirations to become a director for vr porn videos, but obviously we all want to have sex with the hottest girls in the world without all of the chit-chat and bullshit. That day is coming very, very soon.

I knew that studios did 180 since that’s generally good enough, and it’s literally half the file size. But I never realized that it also makes filming way easier, people can hang out in the back.
