Mobile VR has certainly proved as a good entry-point and affordable solution to experience virtual reality. However, this VR form has always stayed limited to watching immersive VR content.
uSens, a startup which specializes in bringing immersive and interactive tracking solutions to virtual and augmented reality has recently unveiled a new technology called as “simultaneous localization and mapping” which brings 6DoF Inside-Out Positional Tracking to Mobile VR.
How uSens’ SLAM-based Solution Works?
With the help of a camera attached to a smartphone, uSens’ SLAM algorithm will create a virtual map of the entire environment surrounding the user. The SLAM algorithm will then continuously map the smartphone’s real-world position within the mapped environment.
The mapping of environment takes place in real-time so as soon as the user moves forward, your phone will scan the new environment and register this change while moving the entire virtual image in coordination with the user’s movement. Check the video below.

This SLAM-based technology is more convenient than the marker or sensor based solutions that require placing tracking sensors across the entire room. This technology will certainly give an edge to immersive experiences on mobile VR platforms like Daydream and Gear VR. This solution can also be used in implementing tracking features while playing CGI VR Porn Games like La Douche and adult vr games for mobile.
uSens’ CTO’s Word On This New Improvements
Dr. Yue Fei, chief technology officer and co-founder of uSens in a statement said “Positional tracking is required to give objects and experiences real meaning in virtual environments. Computing systems can create color, shape, size, etc., but what’s missing in the mix is the position. The world is not flat, so as our technology begins to blend the physical and virtual world, it’s increasingly important that it interacts with the world in three dimensions. We’re already in discussions with a number of consumer-level companies to utilize our SLAM technology. Accurately tracking a user’s position will allow the entire industry to take a giant leap forward and our solutions will help bring on the next generation of amazing ARVR content.”
