Some concept designs that gain online traction are little more than well-planted viral hype nuggets from inside industry sources. When it comes to AR development, there’s been no shortage of concepts leaked, shared, and discussed online. Others can immediately point to a new phase of AR porn viewing and prove too exciting to ignore.

From Concept to Carnality
Every porn viewer knows Snapchat has done wonders for amateur porn production, whether Snapchat itself would ever admit that or not. The ease with which adult performers of any level could set up a password protected Snap feed for their loyal customers helped lay the groundwork for how porn is managing to survive the COVID era. Then you have the filters: augmented reality plugins that can morph, mask and otherwise alter your appearance. Many found that throwing a cute kitty-face filter on their girlfriend looked exceptionally cute. Others found online tube sites dappled with homemade hardcore employing creative use of such filters. Ever wanted to watch a cute pixie girl get plowed while moaning in a high-pitched, cartoonish voice? Done. Sorted.
Filter Fun for Couples
Designed primarily for use with Snapchat filters, a pair of AR-ready goggles sporting a stylish, colorful look have been presented by Swift Creatives. Unlike typical Snapchat messages, which auto-delete within 10 seconds, these goggles never record or save footage, simply presenting it to the user in real-time. How will a device that can’t record alter porn viewing and the industry at large? To answer that question, let’s consider a neglected porn market: couples.
Enhancing lovemaking with some well-chosen filters certainly sounds like something fun to fool around with. Whether it’s one partner giving the other a fantasy fuck aided by, say, a fairy or anime-face filter, or simply using filters to dress each other up in ludicrous wigs and masks. Porn largely being seen as a solitary experience doesn’t exactly help mainstream adoption of either adult content or the tech that bolsters it. Greater access for willing couples to step into this filter-aided fantasy world can only benefit.
Solo Smut: Augmented
Even if we don’t see a soaring rise in couples play-fucking with the aid of such AR devices as Swift Creatives’ goggles, such devices certainly bode well for solo viewers, too. With Apple’s recent move to bring supplementary AR content to its AppleTV+ broadcasts (given the viewer has the appropriate hardware), goggles and glasses equipped with AR are heading for plenty of shopping and wish lists soon.
Similar AR add-ons for porn are inevitable (and seriously appetizing), and viewers will need devices very similar to Swift’s Snap-goggle concept to see widespread availability if they are to indulge. Plus, when goggles look this cool and bring easy AR access to adopters, we could be looking at the kind of device design explosion that we now refer to as the age of the iPod.
