vivo Vision is Coming

Generally regarded as one of the leading producers of smartphone technologies and products, vivo has, however, remained largely unknown outside of China. At the very least, vivo is a far cry from the household brand names of Meta, Apple, Sony, and Samsung.

vivo’s latest effort, its first mixed reality device, may change all that.

A Vision Inspired

Having recently expanded its ambitions for various subsections of the global tech market, Vivo has announced vivo Vision, a spatial computing device that appears aimed at Apple Vision Pro’s market share. Although technical specifications remain largely unknown at its current prototype stage, vivo Vision is clearly inspired by Apple’s debut spatial computing device, if only aesthetically.

A cable-attached battery pack, grey-hued facade, and ribbed rear head-strap all point to Apple’s influence, as do the downward-facing cameras presumably used for hand tracking. vivo has said Vision will be crucial to the company’s larger robotics ambitions, feeding data from environmental mapping and human gesture recognition systems into developing smarter robots.

vivo’s robotics agenda marks a departure from that of most tech giants in that vivo aims to develop products for the consumer market, not the industrial, training, or medical fields. While the West may undervalue vivo’s prominence, this move to consumer grade MR and a future in consumer grade robotics may bring vivo to more widespread global prominence.

The marriage of MR and robotics bodes especially well for VR porn fans. Although some companies have created robotic devices aimed at delivering sexual gratification to flesh-and-bone humans, none have yet produced the killer piece of tech that proves a game changer for the adult industry.
