WankzVR Announces New Configuration for Video Production
This past week, WankzVR asked its members and virtual reality enthusiasts to download, test, and provide feedback on a new configuration and format of its videos.
According to WankzVR, the new rig configuration increases clarity, but reduces the in field view. They further reported that respondents opted for the increased clarity despite the reduction in the field of view and as a result will be implementing the new rig configurations..
WankzVR stated the that configuration from the test is a “stepping stone between the experience you have today, and the experience of tomorrow.”
Lastly, WankzVR also mentioned, “We want to be clear on one thing: It doesn’t end here. Our technicians have been working on a more robust rig, one that provides market leading clarity without sacrificing field of view, frame rate or scale. But this takes time.”
If you missed out on the test video mentioned it is still available for free from WankzVR via the links below:
HelloV Brings Your Favorite Web and Social Media Apps Into the Metaverse
HelloV is the type of app that I and many have been waiting for to come to VR. HelloV is currently in free beta for Oculus Rift users, and essentially acts as a in-game, virtual dashboard for your favorite/ most used entertainment mediums and web based apps.
HelloV uses an interesting approach to bringing up the in-game window. By simply double tapping the side of the Oculus Rift head mounted display, a hud appears that lets the user select apps such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Slack, Twitch, SoundCloud, and Spotify, among others. Once a user selects the app or social media outlet of choice, a in-game window appears.
So far, HelloV has proven to be a wonderful addition for the cockpit in Elite Dangerous, but is not limited to just that game. Currently, Netflix, Mincraft, Altspace, Eurotruck Simulator, and Oculus Photo Library are not supported by HelloV. But hey, I am ok with that. It is still in beta and free, and I do not complain about free.
If you are interested in testing the free HelloV beta, I highly recommend it. I know the developers would love the feedback. They even have a Discord channel set-up that lets users chat directly with developers, as well as other HelloV beta testers.
I also recommend checking out HelloV’s support page if you are having trouble getting the beta to inject into the game or app of you choice. They provide
