An Honest Critique of Lexi Belle’s “Pool Rules”

This time, we’re going to be looking at Lexi’s second VR scene ‘Pool Rules,’ co-starring Alana Cruise as the headless viewer. Pool Rules – Lexi Belle & (to a lesser extent) Alana Cruise – BaDoinkVR

Setting the Scene

Like ‘Hole in One’, ‘Pool Rules’ is a lesbian scene. However, where Hole in One was a voyeur scene, Pool Rules is a female point-of-view (FPOV) scene. Alana Cruise plays the part of the silent protagonist. As a guy, I actually sort of enjoy a good FPOV scene. I know it’s not for everyone and it may even be a turn off to some but I like experiencing myself as the opposite gender. As weird as it sounds.

‘Pool Rules’ places the action against a summery backdrop. The sun is shining (through the overcast), the pool looks ready to jump in and there’s about a thousand blow up floats in the water that seem to have congregated stage left. It’s a really nice area to film some hot lesbian action. It’s probably a real contrast to the barricaded room the viewer is most likely watching this scene in.

The premise of the scene is a little meh. Basically, Lexi’s character is having a house party, of which the viewer is one of the guests. All the guests are inside except for the viewer, who is lying by themselves on a seat by the pool. Lexi appears to have just been walking around naked outside and notices me. I have so many questions but the first three that come to mind are

1. Isn’t she being a bad host by ignoring the guests?
2. Aren’t I being a bad guest by ignoring the party?
3. Why is Lexi naked at her party? Is this an orgy?

In the midst of my confusion, Lexi informs me that there is a no-clothes policy at her backyard pool saying (0:33) “Clothing is not an option.” Things start to get a little hotter as my bathing suit comes off and Lexi thrusts her pussy into my face for an uncomfortably long time. After a while, we get a bit of side plot action, with Lexi saying (5:08) “Remember that thing we used to do in college?” That extent of character complexity was never seen again in this scene.

The scene has three main shots. The first one (0.00) has the viewer lying on their back on a seat while Lexi climbs all over them. After the first shot, Alana starts wearing a strapon. The second shot (7:56) has the viewer sitting on the seat (feet on the ground) with Lexi able to cowgirl on top. The third (27:03) has the viewer standing up with Lexi able to doggy style and missionary, using a table in front of the seat.

Camera Placement

If you watch this with a VR set, expecting a hot steamy lesbian scene with pussys dripping and full boob exposure, you’re gonna be disappointed.

Let’s take the first shot as an example (lying on the seat). The camera placement is almost on top of Alana’s chest so you can’t see your nips unless you really bunch up your chin. Lexi focuses a lot of time on pushing her pussy toward the camera, displaying it in all it’s glory to the viewer. This is cool and all, but then she starts to finger it while it’s still within licking distance of the viewer. I felt like she was going to poke my eyes out.

Viewing was a little better in the second and third shots where Alana was sitting and standing respectively. It did suffer from the same camera-too-far-down-the-chest problems but there was a clear view of Lexi most of the time during her blowjob, cowgirl, doggy and missionary sequences. Lexi did have a tendency during cowgirl (19:02 for example) to get a little too close to the camera, resulting in a view of unadulterated Lexi Belly. But that’s just nit-picking.

Balancing the Parts

Porn is one of the biggest balancing acts in all of visual entertainment. Period. The quality of a porn scene is on the line when a director continues a sex position for a minute too long or diminishes a position that would work great in a particular subgenre of porn. I will empathize that its probably a hard aspect to judge while filming since a lot of porn is improvised and a lot of it is in one long take. However, poor balancing risks audience retention and people will become turned off.

I think this is the main downfall of this scene. This is a 40-minute lesbian scene. The first shot (without the strapon) lasts about 8 minutes (up to 7:55) and, with the exception of the pornstars used, there is nothing distinctly lesbian about it. There’s no cunnilingus, no 69 and no dildos. I think Lexi rubbed my tit for about 10 seconds but that’s as far as the lesbianism of this scene goes. When Alana puts on the strapon, it plays out like a girl-boy scene. Alana could have been replaced with a male and nothing would change.

Other sections of the scene are overdone. I mentioned above that Lexi thrusts her pussy into my face for an uncomfortably long time (about 2 minutes at 2:31).

The second shot also features a long blowjob (about 7 minutes at 7:56) of the strapon dick. Who does this sequence benefit? Alana doesn’t feel anything from it. I doubt many viewers would be rock hard at the sucking of a plastic dick. I don’t even think Lexi enjoys by the way she said “I can’t take it anymore” afterward (14:18).

The rest of the scene is a series of traditional boy-girl positions (cowgirl, reverse cowgirl, doggy style and missionary), taking zero advantage of the lesbian scenario. Yes, it’s a strapon scene, but it’s also a lesbian scene. It doesn’t make me want to watch to the end.

Hot and Funny Moments

Balancing issues aside, there are some truly hot moments in this scene if you’re willing to look for them. Let’s get into some positives.

Shot One – Lying on the seat

• 5:27 – Lexi whispers into my ear “You wanna play with the strapon?” It’s more of a personal preference, some folks probably don’t like it as much, but I really enjoy when a pornstar whispers in my ear. I think it’s an excellent way of taking advantage of the VR and adds another dimension of immersion. That being said, I felt like Lexi gave a lot of attention to my right ear and zero attention to my left ear. This is a bit disappointing since my left ear is my more sensitive ASMR ear.

Shot Two – Sitting on the seat

• 10:24 – Lexi, after a plane noise, stops what she’s doing and says “What is that? There’s so many helicopters today.” I lost half of my erection…
• 14:34 – Reverse cowgirl. This was actually a really hot position. I enjoyed Lexi’s ass bouncing up and down on my strapon with her labia majora wrapped around (comment below if you know what that is!)

Shot Three – Standing

• 28:40 – Lexi: “Spank my ass.” Although it was short, this is what the scene needed to break it out of its monotony. It is the first time we see Alana’s hands, during which she has a little fun with Lexi’s bubbly ass.
• 35:25 – Me: “OHMYGODWHATTHEFUCKWASTHAT??”

A Note on 35:25

If you’re like me and you wanted more lesbian activity this girl-girl scene masquerading as a girl-boy scene, 35:25 will either make you laugh or be a bit more salt in the wound.

I didn’t know what to expect when Lexi said (34:25) “You know I want your cum right?… All your woman cum all over me.” Maybe just a wettening of the pussy? I doubt Alana was really feeling that much under the strapon. However, I kid you not, Alana squirts about a metric liter of sun lotion directly onto Lexi’s stomach. It was probably one of my most hilarious experiences in virtual reality porn.

Whoever came up with this idea, kudos. You made it worth sticking around to the end. But seriously though. What is supposed to be going through the viewer’s head during this? Is it supposed to be funny? Are we supposed to be imagining the ‘cum’ came out of the strapon? Or is it supposed to be a more avant-garde-breaking-the-fourth-wall kinda thing? Perhaps we will never know…

Final Thoughts

The scene suffers from many issues such as weird plot, poor camera setup and lackluster sex positions (for a lesbian scene). However, I think the main problem with this scene is a poor management of time and balancing of these elements. From more macro elements (such as a stupidly long blowjob sequence) to more microelements (such as Lexi whispering in my right ear but not my left), it’s a real turnoff to the point where I was struggling to make it through the scene. I also think more attention needs to be paid to the advantages of a girl-girl scene. The first shot without the strap-on should have been longer with more lesbian-orientated positions (eg. cunnilingus, 69).

This is a real disappointing start for Lexi in VR. I mentioned in part one that I was a real fan of Lexi as a teenager and it’s sad to see her go into this new age of porn with such a rocky start. Let’s hope that things get better for her from here.
