How OSVR Stacks Up
OSVR looks to be fighting an uphill battle against steep competition from
Oculus,
Valve, and others. But they are working hard and more players in the virtual reality market is a good thing.
The main features of OSVR are that it works on mid-range computers, and it's upgradeable. It also promises an open ecosystem, which is a nice contrast to the direction that Oculus has been going in.
At $300, the
OSVR Hacker's Dev Kit is priced reasonably compared to the $600 Rift and $800 Vive. And unlike current mobile/smartphone vr headsets, it offers positional tracking.
But with the lower price, there are tradeoffs. It's called the 'Hacker's Dev Kit' for a reason. Compared to the latest consumer vr headsets, you need relatively decent technical skills to get it set up and working properly.
But most importantly, OSVR is compatible with all vr porn videos using the BIVROST 360Player.
