Virt-A-Mate‘s latest update finally brought in one of the most awaited features since release: Sound!
The final fundamental piece of the puzzle is here! And the way it’s implemented is bound to get you scratching your head. Sources?! Collision Triggers?! Dynamic URLs?!? How does any of this relate to sound? In typical MeshedVR fashion, not everything is what it seems– but with a little bit of trial and error – you’ll be glad that MeshedVR took this approach.
Sound Spotlight
The new sound features bring scene creators the necessary tools to be sonically creative. Though with a steep learning curve, this comes at a price. It takes a fair bit of tinkering to manage the relationships between a collision trigger, audio source, rhythm force producers, and how to parent them properly. This update, in it’s current form, definitely isn’t newbie friendly.
For those who chug through it though: It’s one of the most game-changing updates the game has received thus far. Get through the initial turmoil to learn the ins and outs of these features, and you’ll be rewarded with a flexible system that unleashes a world of possibilities.
While the game comes with new ’embedded’ sounds, adding your own is also an option. This addition is huge. Imagine what community creators could do with all these new tools. At that point making your own scenes might not even be necessary; the Virt-A-Mate content creation community is super creative and driven, and they’re bound to have these features figured out soon. That’s definitely something to look forward to in the near future!
Desktop Mode
For those without virtual reality headsets, Virt-A-Mate is now playable in ‘Desktop Mode,’ a stripped down version of the virtual reality rendition. It’s primary purpose, I assume, is to present a snippet of Virt-A-Mate’s versatility to a new audience. For what it is, it’s a great addition to what is already a feature packed CGI simulator.
Set Foundation
Virt-A-Mate’s latest update is one of the most exciting updates yet. It completes the game’s fundamental features by adding the final piece of the puzzle. By adding diverse tools, MeshedVR insures that content creators will have a lot of options when it comes down to getting deviously creative. Now it’s just a matter of adding features that build upon the solid foundation currently in place.
