Over the past few months, we have seen a great deal of development activity in the adult virtual reality gaming scene. Many new projects have spawned recently giving us, the consumers, tons of adult experiences to choose from. This project, Virtually Naked, is one of those projects and I have to say: it’s looking pretty promising!
It’s rather meek on content but that is not the point of this sex simulator. According to the developer, the goal of the project is to achieve “photo-realistic rendering” in real time with Genesis 3 CGI models. And it’s not just that. Additionally, the developer is planning to open source his code and methodology to help other developers achieve that same goal with their sims! That’s an exciting development for the VR porn game scene. With that in mind, let us explore what the current standalone game has to offer and what we could expect from it in the future.
Virtually Realistic
There are currently four female characters available and each one is a sight to behold. This is further pronounced with the diverse range of lighting environments available for use in the game. The skin shaders of the characters and the way they react to light are incredibly life-like and you can really lose yourself inside the sim. Unquestionably, the visuals are a step above anything else we’ve seen in the adult virtual reality gaming Patreon scene so far.
The fact that this rendering methodology will be open-sourced at some point in the future is also a very compelling thought. Hopefully, when that happens, other developers could use this technique to its fullest potential and raise the standard of what is possible in adult VR games.

Now don’t get me wrong. The characters are not perfect. This is still a very bare-bones simulator and there are a few major shortcomings here as it’s still a young project.
Once you really spend some time with the simulator, you’ll quickly realize that even though the expressions can be tweaked through plenty of morphs, the characters lack any expressiveness through their facial features. It definitely treads somewhere along the uncanny valley if you think about it for too long and adds a bit of oddness to the characters as they often gaze into the void like statues at whatever position you leave them at. A little more procedural animation would go a long way. Though, I noticed that this was actually a planned feature so it’s coming eventually. Just don’t expect it on this iteration of Virtually Naked.

It’s important to consider the context in which this project lies, as it’s not really a game as much as it’s an attempt at pushing the boundaries of what we could do with real-time rendering in an adult setting. I think it’s pretty evident by the project’s lack of sexual content that this is more of a showcase of things to be rather than an actual game.
All things considered, I commend the developers’ efforts of attempting to push the graphical fidelity of VR porn and raising the standard of what is to be expected from other game developers.
User Interface
Everything in this game is controlled by a relatively simple list UI that controls render settings, posing, hair, shaping, expressions, characters, and animations. If you’ve been intimidated by something like Virt-A-Mate‘s UI then don’t worry, this one is rather straight forward though a lot less powerful.
To The Future

This iteration of the simulator was a nice little preview of a project in the making. I’m definitely hoping that at some point in the future, this level of transparency in development is displayed in more games as to help the scene grow. Going open-source with this level of realistic rendering will surely improve the virtual reality porn scene as a whole as it is currently heavily dependant on Daz CGI products and I am sure a lot of devs would be able to benefit from it. One of those devs is actually Virt-A-Mate’s MeshedVR, according to his Patreon! And it really only gets better from here. The developer is planning on adding soft-body physics, procedural animation, in-game animation creation, and more so there is a lot to get hyped about.
Could I be supporting all of this for just a dollar a month? Yes. At least for now, you could!
This is a great vr simulator. The women look more realistic than anything I’ve seen in vr. My only question is there are so many options to change every body part… except the genital area. Maybe I’m missing something but can’t find a way to do it. Any help or word of future version would be helpful. Thanks Bart
Is VR a requirement? Or can I just simply try it without a VR headset?
As of right now, It’s a requirement. Might change in the future though.
