Waifu Sex Simulator 2.2 a visual update.
For those of you who don’t already know, Waifu Sex Simulator by Lewd Fraggy is a nice little program based off of MocuMocuDance that allows you to watch CGI animated porn in a room scale VR environment. It gives you access to the girls, the animations, the environments, and the background music. If you’re looking for a guide on how to set up and use WSS, please see my earlier post here.
What this latest version has done is to update several of the models, add new animations, and add a new “beach” scene. What kind of updates are we talking about? You be the judge. I’ll simply try and point out the differences.
In the above picture, you can see the 2.1 models for the overwatch crew. Some of the enhancements I’ve noted in the picture below are an increased poly count on the breasts, which makes them rounder and less blocky. I’ve also noticed less “flattening” on the elbows, and legs and asses have a much more natural and less chunky curvature to them. The faces also look rounder and little less chunky.
More than just Overwatch…
Several other models got some updating and some love as well. Here we can see the DOA crew looking better than ever. Quite a few of the older but more popular models seem to have gotten an update and their bouncy breasts look better than ever before. And it doesn’t stop there…
We’ve also got new models. I’m not sure who she is, but I definitely dig the piratey-style outfit and the beach. The fact that the model quality has definitely improved only helps make it that much more enjoyable to experience.
Above is another remastered model of Haku. There’s a definite improvement in the curves on this one too. It’s not that they’re any bigger, but they’re definitely a lot smoother and more natural looking.
The newer models are even better.
I’m not quite sure how the new models ended up looking better than the retouches, but they certainly did…
This is definitely some very high-quality work and deserves to be seen not just in larger pictures, but also in person, on your own screen, in your own VR headset… I mean damn… Compared to the early versions of WSS?? This is definitely on par with stuff from KISS, and almost Illusion quality in some aspects.
Just look at how smooth the curve on the ass has gotten in this version… If you don’t believe it, just load up WSS and check out the previous version models and then load up one of the new models to compare to…
And it’s not just the asses that have improved. The thighs and legs have also gotten a lot better and don’t seem to have any hard seams or creases anymore. The bending and stretching on the legs, knees, and elbows have improved for several models as well.
I’m not sure what the technical capabilities of MMD are, but I’m not sure it can handle any better.. And that brings up another nice feature of this update…
Another milestone reached!
That’s right, thanks to us all, his patreons, Lewd Fraggy has hit a milestone where he plans on directing even more money to fund the development of the unity version. The unity based version is a great thing because it’s based off a current engine that’s a lot more powerful than the old one. This means that in the future, the already impressive models, are going have room to get even better.
Unity also supports a much broader library of features, so hopefully, that means we’ll also get better motion support, which is already pretty good, for our VR systems. But more importantly, hopefully, the guys programming the animations will get better tools to work with when it comes to animating things. That will make our experience even better… Additionally, it will hopefully allow better resources and 3d models to be imported.
Sure, this looks pretty good as far as backgrounds go, for about ten years ago… But on the unity engine, running with modern technology, I would be surprised to see the bushes and trees as 2d sprites, rather than actual 3d models. New engine = access to new resources, more memory, modern rendering…
Suffice it to say, the Unity version should bring this to a whole new level. Now granted, that’s going to take a bit of time and work… But with the way the development has proceeded so far, it’s a pretty solid guarantee that it’s going to happen, and it’s not going to take another 30 years or turn to vaporware…
Meanwhile, another nice thing about this update.
It’s under 900mb… That’s right, you can actually download the stand-alone version of the update and it’s under 900mb. No more multi-hour downloads just to enjoy this. We’ve asked, and again, LewdFraggy has listened and delivered.
Now, if only someone could go back through and clean up all the redundant and old models. 😛 As much stuff as there is though, that’s going to be a chore for the ages. Perhaps it’s best to download the standalone updates and just enjoy them. It seems that once the Unity version pops, there’s going to be a flood of additional content as LewdFraggy and crew explore the new options they have available.
And for the future….
Right now, with regards to the unity development, Lewd has gotten most of the core features together. You can check his Devlog on Youtube here if you want to watch the video, it shows the interface, Oculus controllers, teleportation, how the morph sliders for removing clothing, and a bit of how the collisions between the controllers and the breasts come into play… Which means yes, we’ll be able to play with the titties!
Cool thing, I’m pretty sure Unity has a pretty good library of “model interactivity” for VR modules already… So hopefully we may one day see fully interactive models, with hair, physics, and even poseable limbs. In the meantime however, let’s keep encouraging Lewd to get the unity version stable, and full of the features that we all want.. Like a speed slider to slow some of the motions down, or the translation of the Japanese characters in the menu so we can see what we’re playing around with.
