Xbox users have been aching for their favorite console to launch its very own VR platform since Microsoft first started hyping up its virtual and mixed reality developments back in 2016. After many delays and cancellations, it now seems like Xbox fans have a reason to get excited. (Especially those who’ve been hoping for some VR porn action on their console of choice.)
A patent application filed by Microsoft with the US Patent and Trademark Office early this month suggests the forthcoming next-gen Xbox, codename “Project Scarlett” will not only finally bring Virtual Reality content to the system but that Microsoft has a range of peripherals in store, too. And some of them are, well, a bit surprising.
…And Your Living Room Floor
It’s fairly safe to say nobody was expecting a vibrating floor mat to be among Microsoft’s initial VR ventures with Scarlett, but details from the patent show precisely that. Although some VR users may place a mat or blanket down to retain a tactile awareness of their surroundings, Microsoft goes one further with plans for interlocking floor tiles that could fit a range of spaces and enhance the VR experience in a number of ways. Markers for starting position used before entering VR, pressure sensors to track movement, and haptic vibrational feedback are all intended to give users as much freedom as possible while keeping them safe from unwanted stumbles or collisions. When involving yourself in a VR scenario as physically oriented as sex, these are obvious advantages.
This recent patent filing may not be proof that all detailed devices will actually arrive in stores, but it should give Xbox users confidence that the next console they purchase will come with some serious VR-ready hardware. Evidence that Microsoft agrees that the next wave of Virtual Reality will inevitably involve some form of precision haptics, Xbox loyalists should probably start saving their cash for the 2020 Holiday season – and plenty of it.
Xbox or XXXbox?
Another benefit of these revelations means Xbox devotees looking for VR porn pleasures will soon have their chance, just like PSVR gamers have been managing to enjoy for years. Nobody’s yet sure how Scarlett’s VR system will function and whether it will be geared toward gaming alone or function as a complete VR entertainment system.
This at least gives virtual porn lovers a reason to be optimistic, though, and to hold out hope for some XXXbox VR action come 2020’s end.
